Fantasy Summary
Schempp seems like a great leader and character guy, but there is not much upside here in terms of fantasy.

October 2017 – Schempp, a late 2014 pick and ’94 birthday, doesn’t offer much to the pro levels of hockey from a skill perspective. At this point, he doesn’t project to be even noteworthy AHL player and is completely off the NHL radar. The Isles will run out the clock on his entry-level deal and that will be that. Michael Farkas
May 23, 2016 – Kyle Schempp was taken by the Islanders in the sixth round in 2014 in his third and final year of entry draft eligibility. He spent three years at Ferris State University, where he amassed 29 goals and 37 assists in 121 NCAA games. Schempp served as captain of the team in his final season. He decided to forego his senior season at Ferris and signed an entry level contract with the Islanders on March 29, 2016. Schempp played two games with AHL Bridgeport after signing his contract, recording two assists. He will fight for a full-time AHL roster spot next fall. Schempp has a nice set of hands and is not afraid to go to the net. He scored the bulk of his goals in the NCAA from around the crease. That will serve him well at the next level. However, he never scored more than 10 goals in an NCAA season, suggesting he will not be much of a scoring threat in the pro ranks. If he makes the NHL, it will more than likely be in a bottom six energy role. Brent Craswell
