April 2021 – Due to an unprecedented run of injuries to the Avalanche blueline, Burroughs has seen 4 NHL games of late. With just 1 point in 8 AHL contests where he does not stand out, he is understandably seeing just 10 minutes aTOI with the Avs. He is managing over 1 PIM and 1 hit per game so may be a streaming option if you are truly desperate, but this audition should be short-lived and the team brought in reinforcements at the Trade Deadline to help prevent this from happening again. October 2020 – Burroughs has signed a one-year deal with the Avalanche. He will be a valid call-up option, but is very unlikely to see NHL time given the other younger and higher-upside options in the system. Solid AHL depth but do not draft in fantasy. Hayden Soboleski

October 2020 – Burroughs was one of eight NYI RFAs to receive qualifying offers that temporarily prevent them from becoming UFAs. The tough rear-ender has many players above him on the organizational depth chart, and seems certain to remain in the AHL. However, as the reigning Bridgeport captain, his intangibles helped to keep him in the Islanders’ family. Mark Allan

June 2020 – The Islanders’ already-crowded blueline stands to get an infusion of talent during the next several seasons from players who are ahead of Burroughs on the depth chart. That said, organizations can still make room for physically tough, defensively respectable back-enders, especially ones who shoot right-handed. The Isles might offer the 24-year-old RFA a two-way deal, although a minor-league contract is a better bet. Mark Allan

March 2020 – Although the seventh-rounder (2013) might have a better chance of climbing Mount Everest than becoming an NHL regular, the 24-year-old is carving out an AHL career as a blueline hardrock. His point totals during the past four seasons in Bridgeport are going the wrong way (24, 25, 15 and seven, in 54 games so far), but his PIMs are holding up at 116, 99, 103 and 67. He averaged plus-13 for the past three campaigns, and his minus-4 is remarkably good for the remarkably bad Sound Tigers. Mark Allan

Nov 2015 – Burroughs is currently playing in the ECHL for the Missouri Mavericks as the Sound Tigers’ defensive roster is crowded with eight defensemen, and development for him would best be served playing top minutes in the ECHL than scratches and minimal minutes in the AHL. He has been hurt for some of the season too as he has only played in five games, registering only one point. Pat Quinn

Sept 2015 – Not much is known about Burroughs who was drafted in the last round of the 2013 draft, but he has begun to show a good development curve for where he was selected. He put up 39 points in his final WHL season in 66 games split between the Regina Pats, where he was captain, and the Medicine Hat Tigers. He played in 10 playoffs games for the Tigers where he registered three assists before they were defeated. He will play in the AHL for Bridgeport this coming season and it is unknown how he will fair, so monitor him closely. Pat Quinn

February 2014 – After being selected in the seventh round in last summers NHL entry draft, this year, Burroughs looked to improve on an impressive sophomore season with the Regina Pats. Entering the home stretch of the 2013-14 season, he seems to have done just that. The Pats’ captain has surpassed his 33 points in 70 games from a year ago with 36 points in 50 games thus far, and still has 12 games to go on the schedule. He is also currently a plus-9 on the year. After missing the playoffs last year, the first place Pats will look to make some noise this post season and Burroughs will pick up experience in pressure situations. Brad Wilson
