May 2022 – Elvenes found new life in San Diego. He was disenchanted by his chances with Vegas, as they had overlooked him for call-ups and had decided to go back to Europe. However, a second chance in Anaheim could see him decide to stay and keep trying. He’s a setup man who needs to use his shot more. – Dobber
January 2022 – Elvenes was waived by the Vegas Golden Knights and subsequently claimed by the Anaheim Ducks. He will now be assigned to their AHL squad. – Hadi Kalakeche
December 2021 – One of several highly-regarded prospects in the Golden Knights’ pipeline, Elvenes has produced at a decent clip during his three-year AHL tenure (20G, 59A, in 110 games). While his scoring totals have dipped since his initial AHL campaign (12G, 36A in 59 games), the 22-year-old Swede continues to display advanced playmaking skills with elite-level upside, registering first in points this campaign (6G, 18A) among Henderson right wings. October 2019 – After a season that should be considered as quite disappointing for Elvenes, he is making quick work of adjusting to the AHL in his rookie season. His point pace last year in the SHL did not come close to matching the tempo he posted the year prior making many scouts wonder if it had all been just a fluke, but if his first few games this season is any indication he has found his offensive upside once again. Elvenes has recorded points five times in his first three AHL games which is no small feat for any player getting acclimated to one of the world’s top professional leagues. He has quickly been given more responsibility and prime deployment including time on the top power-play unit. The Chicago Wolves are widely considered the class of the AHL because of the way they utilize veteran players in key roles, so the fact that a European rookie is stealing the spotlight bodes well for his future within the Golden Knights’ organization. June 2019 – The one bright spot in an otherwise disappointing season for Elvenes was his play with his peers at the World Junior Championship where he picked up four points in five games. In a vacuum, it’s not that his season was overly poor, but the way he exploded onto the season in the previous year gave fantasy GMs the hope he could continue to progress as a prospect. For a fifth round pick he’s still ahead of the game, but will need to take another step forward in 2019-20 in order to legitimize that last year was more than just a fluke. Mason Black
December 2018 – Elvenes has had a bit of a slow start to the 2018 season where he looked to improve on last year’s breakout, but despite his offensive upside he’s been held off the score sheet more times than not. The junior-eligible prospect has only seven points – all assists – in 18 games and has been given limited ice-time averaging 15:28 minutes per game. All eyes will be on Elvenes during this year’s World Junior Championship as it’s expected that he’ll land on the top line for Sweden as they’ll look to medal for the second consecutive season. April 2018 – Lukas Elvenes has been flying under the radar as far as most prospects are concerned, but he’s a player you should start taking notice of. Elvenes began the season on loan to IK Oskarshamn of the Swedish Allsvenskan and was sitting third in league scoring before Rogle BK (SHL) recalled him where he remained for the rest of the 2017-18 season. While with Rogle, Elvenes displayed his excellent skating ability, evasiveness in the offensive zone and playmaker’s touch to post 16 points in 28 games; good for second place in points-per-game on a team that struggled to find the back of the net, and finished 11th of 14 teams and thus did not make the playoffs. Elvenes still has one year remaining on his contract in the SHL, and considering he was only a couple of weeks removed from being eligible in this year’s draft, he has increased his stock exponentially despite not being a household name. That may change by the end of next year. Mason Black November 2017 – Lukas Elvenes is putting up a remarkable, yet under-the-radar season. Perhaps it’s because he’s playing for little known IK Oskarshamn, or that he was a 5th round pick for Vegas as one of the youngest players in the draft, but he’s currently leading his team in scoring as an 18 year old. With 21 points in 21 games he is tied for third in Allsvenskan scoring, and Elvenes is currently playing at a point per game pace in his draft-plus one year, which is a feat that has not been accomplished since Patrik Berglund in 2006-07.
