Prospects Rambling: CHL Playoffs, Who’s Hot, Who’s Cold? (Mar 28 2018)

Tell me who's hot and who's not.

It can potentially be telling if a possible first-round pick starts ghosting in the playoffs. It can also prove that a player belongs on your fantasy roster if they don't back down when the season is on the line.

Let's take a look at who is shining.

—————————–

HOT HOT HOT

WHL

Michael Rasmussen + Morgan Geekie

Carolina managed to snag Morgan in the 3rd round in 2017 as an overager. If 84 points in 68 games wasn’t enough, he’s been a force along-side Michael Rasmussen (DET 1st rd 2017) as they both have seven points in the first 2 games.

Brad Morrison

The move to Lethbridge was good for the NYR 4th rd pick. He’s powered out 11 points in 3 games. The kid has game.

Garrett Pilon

The WSH 3rd rounder in 2016 has potted four goals in the first 3 games for Everett.

Milos Roman

The draft eligible C has decided to turn it up a notch with five points in the first three games. Scouts will be watching close to see who comes in when it counts. Maybe we see the beginnings of a break out year in 2018-19 for the possibly under rated kid. He could most likely be a strong second-round selection.

OHL

Seven points. Three games. Yep. He will most likely crack the St. Louis roster next season.

Six points in three games. He is going to be the motor behind the Greyhounds.

Matthew Strome

Speaking of Flyers prospects, Strome has had good production with six in three games.

The Coyotes 4th rd selection put up 33 points in 65 games for Ottawa this year. He currently has six points in the first three games. Not bad for a D-man.

QMJHL

Eight points in three games. Columbus fans have nothing to worry aboout with his offensive skills. He doesn't know how to slow down. If you're in a shallow prospect league, people might still be overlooking this kid.

Filip Zadina

Six points in three games. You better believe that scouts are watching every playoff game tape. He has a chance to make a major run with Halifax by being their scoring leader.

D'Artagnan Joly

The Flames sixth-round selection has busted out the gate and is a big reason why they are even in these games. He's had a good year and a strong start to the playoffs. One of Calgary's best so far in the CHL playoffs.

Small sample size but with all the problems he's had since his draft year, Philly will take the four points in the first two games and hold on hope.

————————–

COLD COLD COLD

WHL

He has three points in three games which might not constitute cold for most people. We are talking about a guy who potted 70 goals in 72 games though. He has yet to score. Moose Jaw probably would have hoped one of his 13 shots would have gone in by now. He signed a deal near the end of 2017 with San Jose. He has more to give.

Zero points. Minus-three after two games. Need more from the King’s second-rounder.

Zero points. Minus-four after two games. Let’s go kid. Show that leadership. Calgary Flames fans have to see Dube go head to head against Juuso Valimaki. Someone has to lose.

Regina Pats have their hands full with a great Swift Current team. Just because Regina is hosting the Memorial Cup doesn’t mean they want to go home early. They need more than two assists in three games from the 2016-17 WHL player of the year.

OHL

One point in three games despite Sarnia being up 2-1 in the series. Weird. After putting up 109 points this year, he’s only factored in on one of 11 goals?

Another Sarnia slow starter. Another Flames slow starter. One assist in three games. HOW IS SARNIA WINNING???

QMJHL

Antoine Morand

One assist in three games. Even though Acadie-Bathurst is up 2-1, Morand has not been a big part of the offence and Anaheim fans are hoping for more.

With only 43 its i 49 games this year, Acadie-Bathurst needs more than one assist in three games. The Philly 2016 22nd overall pick was never really known for his elite offensive skills… but they need a push from him.

Consider yourself caught up.

Cheers!!
