Observations:
September 2017 — Nashville drafted Juvonen in 2013. His rights with the Predators expired Aug. 15, making him a UFA. The Finnish native signed a one-year extension with the Lahti Pelicans. At this point, it seems like he is what he is, a solid Liiga starter. Niko Salminen
November 2016 – Since the last update Juvonen has been playing as the number one goaltender for the Pelicans Lahti in the Finnish elite league, Liiga. Since the start of 2014 – 2015 season, the calm 22 year old goalie has averaged a 9.17 SV% and 2.39 GAA in 96 games.
He isn’t the tallest of goalies but he has the athleticism that a goalie of his size needs to succeed. Juvonen is technically sound and has been performing well. Together with goalie coach Toni Pasurinen, they have made steady progress in his development. Adding strength to his feet and more explosiveness to movement, improved core control are at the top of the list they are working on. Juvonen is already trying to shape his game to suite the demands of North American game play. The bigger rink in European leagues are more forgiving for mistakes in positioning and lateral movement. He attended the Predators development camp again this year and was with the Admirals for a few weeks during the play-offs last season, but has yet to sign an entry-level contract. The Predators have a crowded goalie prospect pipeline and Juvonen has his work cut out in front of him to make his way to the big club, despite his promising development. His current contract with the Pelicans ends after the 2017 – 2018 season. Niko Salminen
December 2013 – Juvonen was the Predators final pick in the 2013 NHL Draft after a rocky season split between the SM-liiga and the second tier Mestis league. This year Juvonen has struggled to find playing time playing for the Lahti Pelicans of the SM-Liiga and in the few games he has seen sports a .863 save percentage and 3.78 GAA. Despite being the only returning goalie on the Finnish World Junior Team, Juvonen is likely to be the third string goaltender again due to his struggles and the strong play of both fellow Predators prospect Juuse Saros and undrafted Ville Husso. Fantasy Outlook: D+
He’s becoming steady but is behind a number of goalies in the Predators' prospect ranks. An extreme longshot.
