Observations:

February 2017 – Järvinen has moved between the KHL and Liiga for the past three seasons and it doesn’t seem likely that he will return from Europe. Niko Salminen

August 2014 After potting 12 points in 54 games in his second season with the Milwaukee Admirals, Järvinen signed with Sochinskiye Leopardy of the KHL in the offseason. The Predators still tendered a qualifying offer to him however his move back to Europe makes it unlikely that he'll ever see time with the Predators. Donesh Mazloum

July 2013 – Järvinen's first pro season in North America yielded solid if unspectacular results. Playing in all but one of Milwaukee's regular season games, Järvinen finished 6th in defenceman scoring with two goals and 11 points. He also finished second on the team in PIMs with 124. Recently Järvinen was also named as one of 16 defenceman attending the 2014 Finnish Olympic evaluation camp. Järvinen is steadily improving and if his trajectory continues look for the 2014/2015 season as a NHL arrival date. Despite his solid NHL prospects Järvinen doesn't hold much fantasy value as he seems to be developing his niche as a stay-at-home defenceman.  Donesh Mazloum

June 2012 – Joonas Järvinen is a large defenseman with good positioning and good reach. He plays very physical game and is not afraid of blocking shots. Has some offensive potential as well, but will probably make his way to the NHL as a shutdown defenseman. Järvinen had his breakthrough season in 2011/12 with Pelicans in SM-liiga. He scored 25 points in 57 games adding 125 penalty minutes and finishing +28. He was selected in Team Finland for the World Championship where he played very solid game and was chosen the best defenseman of Team Finland by Finnish experts. Järvinen signed a two-year contract with the Predators as a free agent.

Fantasy Outlook: D-
