February 2016 – Eric O'Dell has been traded to the Sabres along with teammates Alex Guptill, Cole Schneider and Michael Sdao in a seven player trade between Ottawa and Buffalo. Jason Akeson, Phil Varone and Jerome Gauthier-Leduc are headed to the Senators.  O'Dell was Binghamton's second overall goal scorer with 18 goals, 19 assists for 37 points behind only Cole Schneider. O'Dell will join the Amerks to make a push for the AHL playoffs, the Amerks still have 20 games to play. It will be interesting to see where O'Dell will line up in the Amerks lines, should have more information within the first few games he plays with the Amerks. – Paul Zwambag


July 2015 – Eric signed a one year two way deal with Ottawa on the first day of free agency keeping to Bryan Murray's plan of getting local talent. The Ottawa native will likely be a top center in Binghamton with a chance of call up if there are injuries down the middle if the team doesn't feel comfortable sliding someone like Curtis Lazar who played center in junio but has yet to get much action there in the NHL. – Benjamin Gallant
