Observations:
February 2015 – The former Portland Winterhawks captain has had trouble sticking with Binghamton in his first couple seasons as a professional. Currently playing at the ECHL level with Evansville, Rutkowski has a respectable 16 points in 43 games. Gaining some confidence and working to improve his all around game in the ECHL will be important in his development. The defenseman has a track record of offensive success with four seasons of 40+ point seasons in the WHL, but has yet to fully put it together on the professional level. Kevin LeBlan
September 2013 – In Rutkowski’s third WHL season with the Portland Winterhawks the Edmonton-native tallied 10 goals and 37 assists, while also posting a plus-24 and 65 penalty minutes for one of the league’s strongest teams. In 2012-2013 Rutkowski returned as Portland’s captain and posted his best offensive numbers to date, 20 goals and 46 assists, also holding a plus-32 with 43 penalty minutes. In March of 2013 The Ottawa Senators signed Troy Rutkowski. He will most likely play a full year in Binghamton, but would be at the top of the list of call -ups should injuries arise. His type of game will fit well with Paul Maclean’s style of coaching that relies heavily on puck-possession. – Nathan Martin
Fantasy Outlook: C-
A strong kid with lots of offensive upside; a hard shot, can play the power play, and breaks out of his defensive third well. He still lacks defensive awareness and needs to work on his defensive play around the net. Could be an offensive fifth or sixth defenseman.
