Wade Allison

March 2024 – Allison has been traded to the Nashville Predators for Denis Gurianov. He was clearly not in the Flyers’ plans but he may get more of a bottom0six shot in Nashville. Pat Quinn

July 2023 – The 25-year-old winger, produced 15 points (nine goals and six assists) in 60 games with the Flyers during the 2022-23 campaign and was second on the team in hits with 190. Entering the final year of his contract, the 2023-24 season, Allison must show that he can stay healthy for an entire season. He’s had durability concerns dating back to college at Western Michigan University, and given his aggressive style of play, relying on him to play 82 games isn’t a sure bet. Mark Henry

June 2022 – When Allison is healthy, he embodies Flyers hockey. He is a productive forward able to play up and down the lineup, leaving everything out on the ice. Unfortunately, that playing style translates into injuries, something Allison has battled with since his collegiate years at Western Michigan. Playing just 28 games this season in Lehigh Valley, Allison demonstrated his productivity recording ten goals and seven assists. An RFA this summer, Philadelphia indeed plans to extend the 2016 second-round pick. However, it will be for likely one year at a bargain price. Next season, Allison must find a way to stay on the ice. If not, it will probably be the end of his short tenure with the Flyers. John Gove

November 2020 – Allison is expected to need additional time in the AHL to catch his stride after the knee injury sustained when playing for West Michigan hampered his development. He is not a Wayne Simmonds clone, although he has a lot of Wayne Simmonds in his style of play. Getting through a whole summer at 100 percent goes a long way to set him up for success. Edric Joseph

March 2020 – Allison has put pen to paper and signed a two-year deal with the Flyers. He can make a good bottom-six power forward down the road for the Flyers if the cards break-even for him. He has a chance and time to get better although he will need to stay healthy to better tap into that potential. That being said, his 95 points in 106 games for Western Michigan University is nothing to be ashamed of. Edric Joseph

March 2020 – I am hopeful that this Allison is here to stay. He has been putting any injury concerns he has had to rest and has been terrific for WMU while throwing his weight around as a power forward should. He has shown an improved skating stride and better protection of the puck when he has it on his stick. He will need both to fair well in Lehigh Valley in the fall and make the most of his ELC that he is expected to get in the off-season. Edric Joseph

October 2019 – Through two games this season with Western Michigan, Allison is showing minimal rust in his play as he is set on getting his playing career back on it’s once promising track. Expect a healthy Allison to make a bid for the Hobey Baker award as the best player in NCAA Hockey en route to signing a pro contract with the Flyers in the coming off-season. Edric Joseph

July 2018 – After originally considering to go pro next season, it is probable that Allison will be returning to West Michigan University for a third season with the Broncos. It is a shame too as he was off to a flying start, no pun intended, and jumping into the AHL tier of the Flyers system seemed well within reach for him. After being on the mend since January he will likely be finding his feet again after so much playing time missed. Don’t be surprised if he is in the Hobey Baker conversation next season like he was this past year until he sustained injury. Edric Joseph

September 2017 – Allison is expected to make his way back to Western Michigan University upon completion of training camp. He is one of the better prospects the Flyers have had come their way not named Nolan Patrick when it comes to finishing ability. That being said, he needs to bring the rest of his game to being closer to the NHL level before he can warrant serious consideration for the big leagues. Edric Joseph

June 2016 – Allison was a true riser in the 2016 draft class. Originally pegged as a potential third or fourth round selection, the power forward seemed to impress scouts more and more with each game he played. The Manitoba native led the USHL playoffs in scoring with nine goals in 11 games, and his effort was rewarded with a USHL Playoff MVP award as his Tri-City Storm captured the Clark Cup. Blessed with quick hands, a strong shot and good size, the Western Michigan commit will need to work on adding some lean muscle to improve his quickness, but does offer good top-end speed. Allison is a goal scorer; he’ll beat you off the rush, battle in front of the net or work a cycle down low.  Cam Robinson
