Observations:

February 2018 – The Edmonton Oilers acquired Aberg in a three-way trade, sending Mark Letestu to Columbus. Aberg is a fantasy relevant prospect that is a speed demon and could be an interesting potential winger with Connor McDavid. This move could really boost his fantasy value. Peter Harling

December 2017 – The 2017-2018 season has not started well for the young Swede. Aberg has struggled this season, resulting in the occasional healthy scratch and a brief demotion to the Milwaukee Admirals. When he is in the Predators lineup, he most frequently lines up alongside Colton Sissons and Calle Jarnkrok, but has also seen time with star forward Filip Forsberg. Despite only having two goals and five points in 24 games, Aberg still boasts high-end offensive skills. He is a fast and creative player and is always dangerous when he has the puck.  Aberg needs to find consistency in his game to secure a permanent spot in the Predators lineup. Tyler Halsey

January 2017 – Åberg has been splitting time this season with the Predators and the Admirals. He has been good in the AHL, putting up 51 goals and 43 assists in 169 games. In 11 games with the Predators, Åberg has one goal and an assist with a plus-2 rating. The speedy Swede has been playing fast and creative offensively, but as is the case for most young players, he is still trying to find consistency to his game. Lately he has been skating on a line with Craig Smith and countryman Calle Järnkrok. The Predators have used him on the power play quite frequently, 42.9% of power play time in the past three games. With Neal, Forsberg, Arvidsson and Fiala, the Predators seem to be well-stacked at the wings, for now and in the foreseeable future. Niko Salminen

June 2014 – Aberg moved from the second tier Allsvenskan to the top tier Swedish Hockey League this season and he didn't miss a beat. Aberg finished second in team scoring for Farjestads with 31 points in 52 games. Following his season Nashville signed him to a three year entry level contract giving Aberg the chance to showcase his skill on North American ice next season. Donesh Mazloum

July 2013 – Following a last-place showing in the 2011-2012 SEL season, Pontus Aberg and Djurgardens were relegated to the Allsvenskan. Despite disappointing for the team, the move into Sweden's second tier league was beneficial for Aberg as he was given a greater role on the team. Aberg finished the year as the leading scorer for Djurgardens with 12 goals and 40 points, good enough for twelfth in league scoring. Aberg is a shifty skilled forward and is one of Nashville's best offensive prospects. He is still at least a year away from the NHL, however, as he has stated his intention to finish the last year of his contract in Sweden with Farjestad of the SEL. Donesh Mazloum

March 2012 – Nearly draft eligible last year with a late birthday, Pontus Aberg has turned in an impressive first full season as a member of Djurgarden in the Elitserien. Unlike many other highly-touted European prospects, the 18-year-old Swede has already shown to be a reliable contributor playing in one of the top foreign leagues and is projected to be a first-round pick in June. He is a strong skater who is mature beyond his years.  – John Canario

Fantasy Outlook: B

Aberg has tremendous speed and offensive talent. He still has potential to be a top-six forward for the Predators, but will need to display his skills on a more consistent basis.
