July 2023 -Tomek played the 2022-23 season with HC Litvinov in the Czech Extraliga on loan from Kometa Brno. He has agreed to a new contract with HC Litvinov for the 2023-24 campaign. Mark Henry
June 2022- Tomek played 28 games with Czechia’s HC Kometa Brno, recording a 2.61 GAA and .908 SV%. The 25-year-old former third-round pick intends on playing there again next season. John Gove
September 2017 – After seeing two years of limited playing time for the University of North Dakota, Matej Tomek will be suiting up for the Waterloo Black Hawks. He had a lot of promise, where he is in his development remains to be seen though as he has not cracked the main roster which was surely a key determinant in his change of scenery. He will need to hit the ground running to make a favourable impression, as the goalie prospect stable for the Flyers is starting to get crowded. Edric Joseph
February 2016 – Tomek is having a frustrating opening season with NCAA North Dakota. He has yet to see game action, as he has been third fiddle thus far. The young, talented netminder still has tremendous upside and many years of development to hone his skills before being looked upon to make a jump to the NHL. Lee Rayson
June 2015 – Tomek owns excellent size and sound technical skills. Butterfly goalie that stays tall when dropping down and has good reflexes to recover if he does get beat. Dominated the competition last season consistently puts up sparking numbers. The decision to come over and play in North America early for one of the most prestigious college hockey programs (North Dakota) resulted in Tomek playing in the NAHL – something you don’t see too often for draft eligibles, let alone as ones as highly ranked as Tomek.
