July 2024 – Weissbach was not resigned by the Sabres and has become a free agent. Ben Gehrels

May 2023 – As an AHL sophomore this season, Weissbach scored 20 goals and 47 points in 69 games with the Rochester Americans. This placed him fourth among scorers on his team behind Lukas Rousek, Brandon Biro, and Brett Murray. The 25-year-old playmaker has recently spent time on a line with breakout goal-scoring rookie Jiri Kulich, who led Rochester in goals this season. Weissbach generates offense with his quickness and distribution skills. He complements his linemates with effective passes in transition and allows them to drive the attack. He scored one goal and four points in five games against Syracuse in this year’s AHL playoffs, helping Rochester advance to the North Division Finals against Toronto. This is the second and final year of his current contract; he is scheduled to be an RFA this summer. –Kevin Wong

May 2022 – Weissbach bounced back from a rough junior NCAA season with a huge senior one thanks to clicking with linemates Cole Caufield and Dylan Holloway. Because of that, his numbers in that final campaign were huge and earned his pro contract with the Sabres. His transition to the AHL was solid and he has done well to provide secondary offense. He relies heavily on the quality of his linemates – the prototypical complimentary player. At 5-8, he will need more time to reach his upside at the pro level. – Dobber

August 2020 – The 2019-2020 NCAA season was a disappointment for Weissbach, as his goal and point totals declined from the previous campaign. In his most recent season, he scored just four goals and 22 points in 35 games. He is a pure playmaker who often looks to distribute the puck via quick touch passes in transition. He is not a particularly adept forechecker and is at times less noticeable than his linemates. He started the season on the Wisconsin Badgers’ top line alongside Cole Caufield and Alex Turcotte. However, his role began to diminish over the course of the year. He is skilled but he must learn to drive the play of his line on a more consistent basis. Kevin Wong

February 2020 –  On February 18th, Todd Milewski of the Wisconsin State Journal reported that Linus Weissbach has been moved to the fourth offensive line for the Wisconsin Badgers. Given his demotion in the lines, Weissbach is likely to see less ice-time going forward. It has been a rough season for Weissbach and the Badgers. At the moment, Weissbach owns his lowest point totals (22 points in 31 games) since his freshman year at Wisconsin. In addition, the Badgers have been struggling this season even with a talented roster that includes Cole Caufield, Dylan Holloway and K’Andre Miller. Josh Tessler

October 2019 – Linus Weissbach is having a great start to his 2019-2020 campaign with the University of Wisconsin. So far, Weissbach has tallied one goal and seven assists in six games played. At this rate, Weissbach has the potential to surpass his numbers from his freshman season in which he tallied 26 points in 34 games. For the most part, Weissbach has been featured alongside Alex Turcotte and Cole Caufield and the three prospects have become one of the most dominant lines in college hockey. Given the line formation, Weissbach is in more of a playmaker role and he has done well setting up Caufield and Turcotte in the offensive zone. Given how well Weissbach has been doing this season, his upside keeps skyrocketing. He has the potential to be a solid second-line winger in the NHL. Josh Tessler

March 2019 – After a hot start, things started to slow down for Weissbach as he was hindered by his wrist injury throughout the year, missing a few games here and there. He still played very well this year and led the team offensively with the highest PPG and a positive plus-minus on a losing team. Next year should hopefully be his last year with Wisconsin before he heads over and signs a contract with the Sabres. Marcus Griep

December 2018 – Weissbach continues to show utter dominance at the NCAA level, notching 11 points in eight games this year as he comes back off of a right-hand injury and jumps right back on his wave of momentum. The speedy winger shows incredible acceleration to beat defenders and dish off the puck to his teammates time and time again. Marcus Griep

August 2018 – In what could be a steal for Buffalo, Weissbach continues to steam along in the NCAA after posting a great 26 point year (in 34 games) with Wisconsin. The silky speedster has shown some great skill and has shown some elite potential. Weissbach may still be another few years away from NHL action but has shown that he really has some NHL skill in there. Marcus Griep

January 2018 – After producing at nearly a point-per-game last year for the Tri-City Storm in the USHL, Weissbach has made the jump to the NCAA and hasn’t missed a beat. Playing for the Wisconsin Badgers, the Swede has scored six times and added nine assists in 20 games. Speedy and with silky hands the Sabres may have something with this seventh rounder. He’s a few years away but keep an eye on him. Brad Phillips

June 2017 – The Buffalo Sabres drafted Linus Weissbach of the Tri-City Storm in the seventh round of the NHL Draft. Weissbach is a skilled winger who plays with speed and shiftiness. Possesses fantastic hands and a very underrated shot. Lacks power to his game, on both sides, but is a magician with the puck. Can definitely work on his stride and positioning in the defensive end. Max Marko
