Fantasy Summary
Rubtsov has all of the potential to be a premier two-way scoring center in the NHL but his progress has been slow.

March 2022 – Rubtsov has been dealt to the Florida Panthers. Dave Hall
November 2020 – Rubtsov seemed to have punched himself out as the 2019-2020 season progressed. It is regrettable as he has always been defensively reliable however that can only take him so far if he cannot straighten himself out on offense. It would seem his confidence is lacking after all the injury woes he’s had to endure. His start in the KHL is still leaving Flyers fans wanting more. Edric Joseph
September 2020 – Rubstov did not take the step forward as he was expected to this past year. He did not chip in as hoped on offense, although he was stupendous killing penalties, especially when he was paired with Mikhail Vorobyev. He exhibits skill worth monitoring, and he is currently on loan for the Flyers with HK Sochi of the KHL. Count on him to report to Lehigh Valley when the 2021 NHL campaign gets underway. Edric Joseph
December 2019 – Rubstov has taken to this season like a fish to water. While there were legitimate concerns with how long he would take to shake off the rust that comes with missing much of last season (shoulder surgery), defensively he’s been just fine. His offensive contributions ebb and flow, though he is still facilitating possession and is often agitating the other team’s best players during his current tenure with the Phantoms. Edric Joseph
December 2017 – It seems the concerns pertaining to blood doping in his history seem to be put to rest, Rubtsov is for real. He is a pest that you would rather not have around, until he is on your team. He agitates, and drives puck possession while he does it. Still needs to build his body if he is to truly make hay while the sun is shining. Edric Joseph
January 2017 – Rubtsov has elected to leave the Russia to better acquaint himself with the North American take on hockey with the Chicoutimi Sagueneens of the QMJHL. Expectations may need to be tempered though as he is recovering from surgery to repair his broken nose. Edric Joseph
December 2016 – Rubtsov has signed a two-year deal with HC Vityaz of the KHL. As such, we likely won’t be seeing him in the NHL for a while. He is still earning his playing time in Russia’s top league but if his build can match his skills he can make a nice value pick for the Flyers if he elects to play in North America in due course. Edric Joseph
June 2016 – The Philadelphia Flyers picked German Rubtsov with the 22nd overall pick. Pat Quinn
April 2016 – German Rubtsov is an exceptionally talented two-way center that can be the driving offensive force on a line. With elite playmaking ability and shot with above average speed and velocity, Rubtsov can kill a team in multiple ways. Capable of shutting down other team’s top lines as well as driving the play in the opposite direction, his agile skating and deft hands allow Rubtsov to change the momentum on the ice in a hurry. Strong down low for his size, Rubtsov is more of a pass first player at this point since his vision and creativity enable him to create time and space for his line mates. Physically willing to engage and highly compettive, he is able to shield the puck from defenders while spotting teammates with pinpoint passes on the rush, seemingly with eyes in the back of his head. – Aynsley Scott
