Observations:

January 2016 – Fox has continued his torrid pace this season, his second with Kalamazoo of the ECHL, tallying 15 goals and 31 points over 36 games with a minus-3 rating. Offensive acumen aside, Dane has also proven himself to be quite the shift disturber, averaging nearly a full minor penalty per game. This approach should catch the eyes of Canucks management, and could earn him a prolonged look to break into the AHL with Utica. To make this happen, though, Fox cannot take his foot off the gas as the 2016/2017 season could potentially see the graduation of prospects like Brendan Gaunce and Hunter Shinkaruk to the big club. Continuing to ply his trade could earn him a long look as a replacement with Utica, moving him one step further to the NHL. David McDonald

November 2015 – Coming off a big 30 goal season a year ago, Fox is on pace to shatter that point total in 2015-16. The 22-year-old has 14 points in 14 games, a much higher pace than his 45 points in 70 games of 2014-15. He has also been much more balanced, as his eight assists display he can make plays as well as finish them. That will be even more important at the next level when the game is even faster if he wants to continue climbing the organizational ladder. Fox must maintain his consistency, and he may just get that crack at the AHL he has been waiting for. Mike Barrett

February 2015 – Former high-scoring OHLer Dane Fox has had an up-and-down first pro season after signing as a free agent with the Vancouver Canucks. Playing in the ECHL with the Kalamazoo Wings, Fox is using his opportunity to prove that he can be an effective pro and despite some inconsistency in his production, Fox has certainly been a valuable addition to the Kalamazoo lineup. He will need to continue his upswing in production to prove that he can graduate to the AHL club and then eventually earn some looks with the big club. Fox is coming off a great month of January where he posted eight goals and 13 points in 11 games, going pointless in just two contests. With his ability to put up points and contribute with penalty minutes, hits and shots on goal, Fox is a prospect to be patient with. Brendan Ross

May 2014 – After leading the OHL in goals, Dane Fox was named to the OHL's 1st All-Star Team joining Scott Laughton, teammate Connor Brown, Aaron Ekblad, Slater Koekkoek and Alex Nedeljkovic. Fox's junior hockey comes to a close so he will be competing for a roster spot with the Canucks in 2014-15 but it's more likely the skilled agitating winger heads to the AHL. Brendan Ross

January 2014 – The top scorer in the OHL by a wide margin (42 goals in 39 games) was recently signed by the Vancouver Canucks. He admits to making some personal mistakes in the past which could partially explain why he wasn't drafted two years running (ranked 48th last year by NHL central scouting). After hovering around a point per game pace for a few years, Fox is up around two points per game with 70 points as an overager. Some of that undoubtable comes from his linemates, notably Connor McDavid, but that is not all he brings. In an interview with Dean Youngblood, Fox said that he models his game after Steve Ott and Dave Bolland. His coach lauds him for his complete game and grittiness, saying that he is defensively responsible and doesn't cheat offensively; he projects Fox as a third liner with powerplay time in the NHL. Fantasy Outlook: C

His grit will likely secure him a spot at the NHL level. He models himself after Dave Bolland and that third-liner is a good fantasy comparable.
