Observations:

June 2015 – Flames chose not to qualify Bill Arnold. While fans had always held on hope due to college connection with Johnny Gaudreau, this shouldn't be very surprising.

Apr 2016 – Arnold had a very Arnold like season. He maintained his solid two way play and continued to showcase his hockey IQ and defensive responsibilities which are NHL caliber. New bodies are entering the system now and might be bumping Arnold down the ladder. The thought was the he would be the replacement for Stajan once his contract ran out (two years remaining) but I'm not sure he will last that long. Of all the call-ups from the Stockton roster, Arnold was not one of them. At this point he shouldn't be on your fantasy radar at all. – Joel Henderson

Nov 2015 – With Markus Granlund called up to the NHL, my eyes turn to Bill Arnold. The keys to Bill's successes start in his own end but he might be able to increase his production over the next while. – Joel Henderson

July 2015 – He has accepted a qualifying offer from the Calgary Flames. Joel Henderson

June 2015 – The first pro season was a good one for this budding role player. He showcased his ability to take away space defensively and developed a playmaking connection with Emile Poirier. Arnold remains a significant asset however due to his specific skill set, powerful frame and the fact that he is right handed. Currently the NHL role he would have is filled by Matt Stajan and newly re-signed Mikael Backlund so he will have to wait until those roles open up to get significant ice time. He is still currently an RFA as well. Joel Henderson

April 2014 – Arnold made his NHL debut in game 82 for the Flames. He had a solid evening playing 13:35 and registering one hit. He also turned in a respectable night in the circle, winning 56 percent of his draws. Arnold is apparently not joining the Heat in their Calder Cup playoff run as he now heads back to Boston College to finish out his semester of classes. Brad Wilson

April 2014 – Arnold is set to make his Flames debut Sunday against the Canucks. Brad Wilson

April 2014 – Arnold and the BC Eagles have been eliminated from the Frozen Four tournament by the Union Dutchmen. He had a strong season along side friend and future Flames team-mate Johnny Gaudreau. Arnold managed to turn in his best offensive season in his senior year with 52 points (14 goals) in 39 games. He is primed to slot into a third or fourth line role as a pro but is likely at least a year away from the NHL. Joe Colborne is the player the Flames would like to see in the third line center spot but he has been spending time on the wing. If and when Arnold makes the jump to the big club, Colborne could be the deciding factor on if he is pivoting the fourth line or moves up a spot. Brad Wilson

March 2013 – The Calgary Flames may have unearthed an excellent role player in Bill Arnold. Currently in his third season at Boston College, Arnold has displayed a keen commitment to defense. This has earned him the trust of his coaches and he has worked his way into the top two lines for Boston. His skating has improved steadily, as has his offensive game. He produced 36 points in 42 games last year and is currently 4th in scoring for the Eagles. Born in Boston, he originally wore  number 24 in honour of Terry O’Reilly, his childhood hero. His hard work and 200 foot game will certainly translate into the AHL, and if he continues to develop he has the makings of a dependable, gritty, two way center. Sheldon Curtis

December, 2012 – Arnold is having a fine junior season at Boston College, with 13 points in 14 games so far. He will face the decision of whether to stay in school for his final year or turn pro at the end of the season. Rich Dillon

February, 2012 – Arnold is a two-way pivot with no standout skill, but no real weakness to his game either.  He played for Team USA in this winter’s World Junior Championships, and was named one of the top three players on the team.

Fantasy Outlook: C-

Never a big scorer at any level, Arnold still could develop as a depth NHLer.
