OHL Finals is set, AHL playoffs are midway through the first round and the other two CHL league finals are almost set.

The London Knights and the Niagara Ice Dogs made easy work of two very good teams in Barrie and Erie and swept them both in four games. The London Knights’ top line are one, two and three in OHL playoff scoring, a total of 95 points combined in 14 games played. Mitch Marner (TOR) leads the way with 37 points (15-22). In the Conference finals alone Marner scored five goals and seven assists in the series sweep. Let’s not forget about the goaltenders for this OHL final, Tyler Parsons (2016 draft eligible) and Alex Nedeljkovic (CAR) are one-two in goals against average and save percentage with Parson slightly ahead with a 2.27 GAA and .924 SV%. Nedeljkovic has 2.33 GAA and .918 SV%. This should be an interesting OHL final with high end offense and excellent goaltending. I think the offense will outperform the net minders in this upcoming series.

As for the WHL, the Brandon Wheat Kings are one win away from the WHL final to meet up with the Seattle Thunderbirds. The Thunderbirds swept the Kelowna Rockets in the Western Conference Finals, being led by overage goaltender Landon Bow, who has a 1.54 GAA and .936 SV% in 13 playoff games. Bow has only given up 21 goals in those 13 games, winning eight straight. Bow hasn’t lost a game since April 8th against Everett Silvertips (Game 1 of the second round)

In the QMJHL playoffs, the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies and the Shawinigan Cataractes are up 3-1 in their semi-final series. The Huskies have only lost two games in their three series this year, led by their captain Francis Perron (OTT) who has eight goals and 13 assists for 21 points in 11 games played. The Cataractes are led by Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Dmytro Timashov (TOR) and Anthony Beauvillier (NYI). Timashov has 11 goals and 11 assist in 15 games played.

The AHL playoffs have begun, the first round is a best of five series, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (swept Providence), the Lake Erie Monsters (swept Rockford) and the Grand Rapids Griffins (swept Milwaukee) all are moving on to the second round.

Jake Guentzel (PIT) is leading the AHL in scoring with seven points in the three game series. Guentzel joined the Baby Pens after his final year of university with an amateur tryout contract. Guentzel is proving he deserves a professional contract for the upcoming year.

A couple of rookies are making a name for themselves in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, Robby Fabbri (STL) has five points (1-4) and moving on to the second round with St. Louis. Fabbri has played most of his minutes with Paul Stastny and Troy Brouwer on the Blues third line. Alan Quine (NYI) has four points (1-3) in seven games played, in the Islanders first game of the second round Quine played on a line with ‘Captain Clutch’ John Tavares and Kyle Okposo.
