Fantasy Summary

Has good offensive instincts and controls the puck well. His size forces him to the perimeter where he might struggle to produce at even-strength as he becomes a pro.

September 2023 – After playing just nine games in 2022-23, it was good to see Daoust playing in all three of the prospects games held in Buffalo. He had some obvious cobwebs to his game, but did get better as the tournament progressed. This is a huge developmental year for him as he will hope to stay healthy and play 60 games or more in Belleville of the AHL. Ice time in Bellevue could be an issue for him and he will need to show some progression to not be passed by other prospects in Ottawa on the depth chart. Grant Campbell

November 2022 – Daoust hurt in shoulder in an AHL game against Utica and will require surgery which will keep him out for the season. He only managed to play nine games with Belleville but did put up two goals and five assists and showed some offensive flashes. It is never good for a player’s development to miss 60 something games in a season, so Daoust will need to come back stronger next season and try to carry on from where he was, which will not be easy. Grant Campbell

May 2022 – The 20-year-old overager played 38 games with Saint John in the QMJHL and had 24 goals and 23 assists. He also played 15 games with Belleville in the AHL where he managed five assists. He signed a three-year entry level contract with Ottawa in March of 2022. With his history and slight frame, injuries are a concern as he looks to continue his pro career in the AHL next year.
