Layton Ahac

September 2023- Ahac managed to record his first professional goal last year, having now played parts of three seasons in the AHL with Henderson. Having struggled to stay in the lineup since leaving college to turn pro, he will need to play consistently in order to continue developing towards an NHL role. November 2021 – Unfortunately, Ahac has not yet suited up this season due to injury following a 2021-22 campaign in which he tallied his first professional points, dishing two assists in thirteen AHL contests with Henderson. The 20-year-old North Vancouver native inked a three-year entry-level contract with Vegas this March following a sophomore campaign at Ohio State in which he ranked second among Buckeye defensemen with nine points (1G, 8A) and blocked 44 shots, good for eighth in the Big Ten Conference. His 1.63 blocks per game also ranked sixth in the conference. His highly cerebral two-way play bodes well for a solid, perhaps lengthy, NHL future. Kevin Wickersham

June 2019 – Ahac was considered a sleeper heading into the 2019 entry draft, and wound up being selected by the Vegas Golden Knights in the third round at 86th overall. The North Grove, BC native played the entire year with the Prince George Spruce Kings in the BCHL and scored four goals and 32 points in 53 games. Ahac took a big step forward in the playoffs where he posted 17 points in as many games, including five goals to help Prince George win the BCHL title. Ahac uses his decent size to neutralize the opposition and close gaps on opponents. He’s equally adept at playing in the offensive zone as the defensive side of the puck, and has committed to Ohio State University for the 2019-20 season. Mason Black
