Gleb Trikozov

April 2024 – Gleb Trikozov has officially signed his entry level contract with the Carolina Hurricanes. Trikozov, who ends his Russian career with 234 games played across the VHL, MHL and KHL, will play in North America next season. His production at the MHL level is extremely encouraging, producing 85 goals and 80 assists for 165 points in 156 games, which puts him tied for 17th all time in MHL history in front of players like Nikita Kucherov, Ilya Mikheyev and Andrei Kuzmenko. Trikozov has always been a natural playmaker but really put his shot to use this season, as it was noticeably faster and improved compared to recent years. Trikozov projects to play in the AHL next season but could see NHL game time within the next year or two. Nick Bass

July 2022 – Trikozov was drafted 60th overall by the Carolina Hurricanes, as one of the highest upside forwards fell again to the Hurricanes and they easily scooped them up. Pat Quinn

April 2022 – Trikozov has the MHL figured out  as he upped his points per game to 1.29, with 45 points in 35 games, from 0.61 in 2020-2021. While he had the MHL figured out, he was slow to adapt to the VHL with just two points in 11 games for Omskie Krylia. Trikozov is a very smart player who can read where the play is going and where the open space will develop in the offensive zone. He has an underrated and underappreciated shot in the 2022 draft and in the end of the day he could be one of the better shooters to come out of the draft, especially with how fast the puc will be on and off of his stick. Trikozov is a good 360 style skater, where he can move any direction with ease. Pat Quinn

March 2022 – He plays a strong north-south game and keeps defenders on their heels. Needs to continue to add pace to his overall game and combine his raw talents with quicker reads but there is plenty of offensive upside in his game. Nick Richard

March 2022 – Dual threat, who possesses a good wrist shot and good playmaking skills. Slightly above-average skater with good puck handling ability. Eetu Siltanen

October 2021 – Trikozov played his draft-1 year for Omskie Yastreby of the MHL, finishing with 15 goals and 15 assists in 49 games. After a strong year in the MHL, Trikozov was given the bump to the VHL where he is playing alongside fellow 2022 draft-eligible Ivan Miroshnichenko. He has scored one goal through his first six games.

Trikozov is a tantalizing and physically dominating offensive winger with a good all-around game. He is not afraid of battling in the corners, often coming away with the puck and setting up teammates for high danger opportunities. Trikozov always seems to be scanning the ice and positioning himself accordingly. One of his strongest attributes is his vision as he consistently identifies passing lanes and isn’t shy about attempting stretch passes. His hockey IQ is also a strength and at times it seems he is aware of where his teammates are going without looking their way. His shot is a laser beam, but he is very selective when shooting the puck. Trikozov, whose birthday is August 12^th, 2004 is on the younger side of the draft class, and playing the entire season in the VHL as a 17-year-old should aid his development. Trikozov does not currently have a glaring issue in his game, other than his point production. Hopefully, a full year playing against men in the VHL will enhance his game and we will see progression as he plays more. Overall, this is a pretty strong year for Russians and Trikozov deserves to be considered in the top half of the draft. Zack Szweras
