Curtis Douglas

July 2024- Utah Hockey Club has signed Douglas to a two-year, two-way contract. The big man put up five goals and 21 points in 57 games in Tucson last year. While the offense was not bad, Douglas is more known for the toughness he brings to the lineup. His 148 PIMs were fourth in the AHL last year. At 6’9 and 243 lbs, Douglas is an intimidating presence on the ice. After seeing the impact Matt Rempe had with the Rangers last season, Douglas could earn a similar role with Utah. Keith Duggan

July 2023- While Douglas did not show a ton of offense with Tucson last year, he did bring toughness to the lineup. The hulking forward had eight goals and 14 points in 50 games with the Roadrunners, good for ninetieth in team scoring. He did have 119 PIM’s though, second on the squad in that category. If the Coyotes are looking for toughness in the lineup, Douglas could earn an opportunity during 2023-24. Keith Duggan

November 2022- Douglas has been dealt to Arizona for defenseman Conor Timmins. He had one assist in 13 games with the Toronto Marlies and will join Arizona’s AHL affiliate Tucson. Keith Duggan

March 2022 – After splitting the 2020-21 season between playing in Europe and for the AHL’s Belleville Senators, Douglas signed on with the Toronto Marlies for the 2021-22 campaign. The hulking forward has taken full advantage of the opportunity, cementing himself as a key part of the Marlies’ lineup and scoring at a half-point per game pace.

His solid performance in his first season with the Marlies and intriguing physical profile were enough for the Leafs to lock him up with a two-year entry level contract that will begin in the 2022-23 season. Douglas is still a project but could eventually grow into a viable fourth line center option in the NHL. Nick Richard
