Fantasy Summary

Sharp-shooting winger with strong off-puck positioning, a heavy release, and a decent forechecking game. Relatively one-dimensional, but could round out his game to become a middle-six trigger man.

March 2025- Rehkopf moved to the Brampton Steelheads from the Kitchener Rangers, where he destroyed the OHL in 2023-2024. His offense has slowed this season, dipping from the 52 goals, 43 assists, and 95 points he managed in 60 games last season to a slightly more modest 59-game projection of 44-43-87; it is not without explanation. In Kitchener, Rehkopf was the best option on the ice- no disrespect to undrafted overager Matthew Sop, who was 21 when he played with Kitchener- by a wide margin. A towering behemoth, Trent Swick, was the next highest-scoring forward for the Rangers. In contrast, Rehkopf shares the ice with Luke Misa and Porter Martone this year, allowing the Steelheads to diversify their offensive attack. While shooting the lights out in Junior at 18 isn’t enough to guarantee NHL success, a manager would be wise not to hold this softened offensive output against Rehkopf and perhaps use it as a tool to acquire him when the hype for this year’s draft class is at a peak, and a slight dip in production can be used as a bargaining chip to pry him from a less invested manager. October 2024- Rehkopf continued his exponential growth in the OHL in 2023-2024, adding 36 points (52-43-95) to his previous year’s total. His 52 goals were second in the league, behind the leader by six goals in eight fewer games. Rehkopf’s an absolute sniper, and if his skills can translate to the pro game, he could be a very solid fantasy asset. If he replicates or even builds on his success this season, the buy-low window will have slammed shut. If he’s on your waiver wire in a deep enough league, park him on your farm and watch his progression. Alex Wyatt

June 2023 – Rehkopf was selected 50th overall by the Kraken. Pat Quinn

June 2023 – Rehkopf has plied his trade with the Kitchener Rangers in the OHL this season, putting together a solid 30-goal, 59-point campaign in 60 regular-season games, as well as six points in nine playoff games for a middling squad.

Although he is a great off-puck mover with a high-end release and decent forechecking, Rehkopf’s playmaking lacks inventiveness and creativity, and his skating is average at best. Along the boards, he fights well for pucks, combining great technique and a heavy frame to pry defenders off of pucks and fight them off once he has it. There is some refinement needed in Rehkopf’s case, but if his skill set is rounded out, he has the potential to be a middle-six goal-scoring winger who can hold his own on dump-ins. Rehkopf will likely see his name called at the end of the second round or somewhere in the third. Hadi Kalakeche
