June 2023 – Alec Regula has been traded to the Boston Bruins along with teammate Ian Mitchell. Regula signed a 3-year contract in 2019 for $2.77M and is a pending restricted free agent following the completion of this current contract. At this point, it is uncertain what the Bruins will do with Regula. They have a lot of depth down the right side, but he is a big body that plays a physical game. From a fantasy perspective, he has the ability to be a solid multi-cat player. Puneet Sharma
June 2023 – Regula played four games with the big club this year however he still needs more time in the minors for development. If it were not for all of the injuries on the back end there would have been almost no chance for Regula to crack the lineup. Expect that he will back in the minors this upcoming season. July 2022 – Regula was drafted 67th overall by the Detriot Redwings in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. He was acquired by the Chicago Blackhawks in 2019 in exchange for Branden Perlini. Since then he’s played a total of 18 games with the Blackhawks and scored one goal during that time. During the 2021-2022 season he played 41 games with the Rockford Ice Hogs and posted a total of 26 points which was the fifth highest in the AHL among rookie defenseman. At only 21 years-old Regula has shown that he can compete with the other more seasoned prospects. Puneet Sharma
October 2020- Regula is not currently listed on any roster for the upcoming season but he will likely start in Rockford of the AHL. He is still a few years away from seriously contending for a roster spot. The future is bright providing he continues to trend up. Tony Carr
April 2020 – Regula was the principal part received in the Brendan Perlini trade that happened in late October. All he did since then was lead the OHL in goal scoring for defencemen while averaging better than a point per game. In addition to this newfound offensive prowess, he was voted by the Western division coaches as the best defensive defenseman in the Western Conference. If he can maintain even a portion of these offensive gains, the Hawks have stolen a really solid player. Tony Carr
May 2018 – Regula is a smart, mobile, two-way defender with top-four upside at the NHL level. He was somewhat buried in his second season playing for the London Knights, behind the likes of Evan Bouchard and Adam Boqvist, yet his big (6-4, 207) frame was still utilized on the power play in front of the net. Regula has progressed nicely in his draft plus one year, improving from 25 points in 67 games to 39 points in 66 games. The London Knights and Red Wings will expect a bigger role for him going forward. Mark Hillier
