May 2024- At 15 goals and 44 points in 55 games, Raty’s first year playing for Tucson was a success. He finished second on the AHL team in scoring and was one of their most consistent offensive players. Raty also picked up an assist in his lone NHL game. A responsible 200-foot, and a gritty, gridding game, Raty could earn a bottom-six role with Utah next year. The most likely plan is for him to play another season in the AHL, playing top minutes and power play time. Keith Duggan

January 2024- It was hard to predict what Raty would bring to his first year in North America. He only really had one good offensive season in Finland but the potential for more was always there. So far Raty has been quietly having a strong rookie campaign for Tucson. He is currently third in team scoring with nine goals and 23 points in 31 games. After a little bit of a slow offensive start, Raty really came on in December, racking up 13 points, helping the team finish 9-2-0-0. He’s also currently outscoring his much more heralded brother Aatu by one point right now. Keith Duggan

June 2023- Arizona has signed Raty to a two-year, entry-level contract. This signing follows his best offensive season by a mile. Raty recorded 18 goals and 42 points in 53 games and had a Liiga-leading plus-26 rating. His 18 goals ranked second on the team and was tied for 11th in the league. “We are pleased to sign Aku and have him join our organization,” said Coyotes GM Bill Armstrong. “Aku is a big, skilled, two-way forward who had a breakout season with Ilves. We look forward to Aku’s continued professional development in Arizona.” After years of looking like a quality player who could offer more offensively, Raty broke through in 2022-23 and it will be interesting to see how he adjusts to North America. Keith Duggan

November 2022- One of the biggest surprises among Coyotes prospects has been the hot offensive start to 2022-23 by Raty. He currently has three goals and 14 points in 17 games for Ilves. That already doubles his point totals from both 19-20 and 20-21 campaigns. If Raty can continue this pace, it would not be surprising to see Arizona sign him to an ELC and bring him over for 2023-24. Keith Duggan

September 2022- Another year with Karpat in the Liiga, Raty fared better offensively then previous campaigns. He put up 11 goals and 22 points in 56 games, much improved on the seven total tallies Raty had in 2020-21. He even got to play on a line with his brother, New York Islanders draft pick Aatu Raty for a few games. Aku Raty will suit up for Ilves in 2022-23 and hopefully sees a bigger offensive role with his new club. Keith Duggan

September 2021- Raty spent most of the year with Karpat in the Liiga, not really taking a step forward offensively. He had four goals and seven points which was pretty much the same numbers he put up in 2019-20. A competitive player with decent skill and speed, more is expected from him. He’ll suit up for Karpat again this coming season. Keith Duggan

January 2021- Just like last year’s World Juniors, Raty had a solid tournament for Team Finland, finishing once again with two goals and three points. He was around the puck a lot and played a strong bottom six role for Finland. He now heads back to Karpat in the Liiga, where he has so far gone scoreless this season. Keith Duggan

September 2020- Playing mostly on the fourth line for Finland’s team at the World Juniors, Raty played solid, putting up two goals and three points in seven games. Back in the Liiga, he had two assists in 13 games after returning from the World Juniors. Raty was much more offensively impressive in the Jr. A SM-liiga, where he finished the campaign with 11 goals and 21 points in 18 games. He’s expected to play for all three of those teams again in 2020-21, most likely on a line with his brother and top prospect for the 2021 NHL draft, Aatu Raty. Keith Duggan

December 2019- Raty has been named to Finland’s squad for the 2020 World Junior Championship. He’s expected to play on a line with his brother and projected top pick in the 2021 NHL draft, Aatu Raty. He’s put up solid point totals this season so far, with two goals and five points in 19 games playing for Karpat in the Liiga. In the Jr. A SM-liiga though, playing for the U20 Karpat team, Raty has a dominating nine goals and 18 points in 13 games. Keith Duggan

June 2019 – Räty has been drafted 151st overall by the Coyotes.  Jokke Nevalainen

March 2019 – Räty has spent his entire draft season in Jr. A SM-liiga which is the top junior level in Finland. While there, he’s put up 19 goals and 45 points in 52 games which is very good production considering his age and the fact it’s his first season playing at that level. Räty has also played a total of 16 games with Finland’s U18 team and put up six goals and nine points during that time. Räty is a complementary offensive player who can both make plays and finish them. He has decent size (6-0, 170), and he plays a reliable defensive game. He’s also capable of killing penalties if needed. He needs multiple years of development before playing in the NHL, and during that time it would be nice to see improvements in his skating. He projects to become a complementary third-line winger at the NHL level, and he’s likely going to be drafted in the middle rounds of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft.  Jokke Nevalainen
