Fantasy Summary

He can make a solid top-four defenseman that can bail injured specialists in a pinch, think Sami Salo if things go his way.

June 2023 – Wylie did not receive a qualifying offer from the Philadelphia Flyers; the former fifth-round pick is an NHL unrestricted free agent. Mark Henry

June 2022 – Playing the entire 2021-22 season with the Phantoms in the AHL, Wylie registered a respectable five goals and 13 assists. In a year when Philadelphia provided many young players opportunities to demonstrate their ability at the NHL level, the fact that the Flyers did not promote Wylie for a game or two is telling. Not that they do not see an NHL future for the young blueliner, but the organization likely feels he is just further away than some others. A defenseman more suited in a top-four role, there probably is not an NHL spot for Wylie to compete for either. Expect him to play most, if not all, of next season in the AHL. John Gove

September 2020 – Expect Wyatte Wylie to patrol the blueline for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms in the 2020-21 campaign. He and Zamula both give Flyers ample options on the powerplay if their respective developments continue to progress as hoped. Wylie is a guy to remain mindful of in seasons to come. He would do well to fine-tune his condition for the next level. Edric Joseph

March 2020 – In light of his impressive season, Wyatt Wylie’s hard work has been rewarded as he was offered his entry-level contract. He signed promptly and as such will be expected to suit up for Lehigh Valley in the fall. He has been a very fortunate find, especially with how strong of currency right-handed defensemen are. That being said he will have an uphill climb up the Flyers depth chart once he embarks on professional hockey and bids farewell to his junior hockey career. Edric Joseph

September 2019 – Not nearly as touted as players above him on the Flyers depth chart, Wyatte Wylie quietly turned in a very good season playing for the WHL’s Everett Silvertips. He made the most of the increased responsibility, playing with the best teammates available to him while remaining a consummate two-way player. He has one more year of WHL eligibility and it is expected that he will build on his team-leading (among defensemen) 47 points in 67 games. He will need a strong suit if he is to stand out in future Flyers training camps though as he is good and not great in most everything he does on the ice. There is an outside chance he gets signed and reports to Lehigh Valley this fall, although returning for his WHL farewell tour is the more likely scenario. Edric Joseph
