May 2022 – Schingoethe was used sparingly during his freshman year on one of the best teams in college hockey, going without a point while averaging just under six minutes of ice time over 20 games with the Broncos. While his game isn’t built around his offensive contributions, it will be important for Schingoethe to take on a larger role in his sophomore season if he is to establish himself as a legitimate NHL prospect moving forward. October 2021 – It was a disappointing season for Schingoethe as he returned to Waterloo in the USHL after being drafted by the Leafs in 2020. Instead of taking a step forward, his offensive production took a significant step backward and he finished the season with just 10 goals and 11 assists in 44 games for the Black Hawks. He is set to begin his collegiate career at Western Michigan University and will have his hands full as he looks to bounce back from a difficult season against tougher competition than he has faced to date. Nick Richard
October 2020 – Schingoethe was selected by the Maple Leafs in the seventh round of the 2020 NHL Draft, 195th overall.
Schingoethe plays an energetic, high-paced game and displays strong defensive instincts. He has a bit of a short, choppy stride but it doesn’t seem to hinder his ability to get around the ice and pressure opposing players. He is willing to engage physically and finish his checks, and he has a quick stick in contested puck situations. Schingoethe isn’t a flashy offensive player but he gets to scoring areas and has shown an ability to capitalize on dangerous chances at the USHL level. His overall offensive upside may be limited but he could develop into a checking forward capable of playing at the pro level if everything breaks right. Nick Richard
