Fantasy Summary

Hard-working center who works hard at both ends of the ice. He isn’t afraid to shoot the puck but lacks offensive upside. Shouldn’t be considered in fantasy leagues.

March 2024 – On Friday, March 15, the Winnipeg Jets announced they traded forward Wyatt Bongiovanni to the Ottawa Senators in exchange for future considerations. Bongiovanni, 24, has played the past three seasons with Winnipeg’s AHL affiliate, the Manitoba Moose. The former captain of Quinnipiac University will now spend the remainder of the 2023-24 season with the AHL’s Belleville Senators. Mark Henry

February 2024 – Although injuries have limited Bongiovanni to 33 games this season with the Manitoba Moose, with 15 points (eight goals and seven assists) in those games. If he can stay healthy for the remainder of the 2023-24 campaign, he should surpass his career high of 18 points recorded during the last season, which would bode well heading into restricted free agency this off-season. Mark Henry

September 2023 – Bongiovanni played 56 regular season games during the 2022-23 season with the Manitoba Moose in the AHL, recording 18 points (13 goals and five assists). Entering the final season of his two-year entry-level contract, Bongiovanni will look to improve in all aspects of his game to earn his next professional contract. He’s a restricted free agent after the 2023-24 season. Mark Henry

April 2022 – Bongiovanni signed a two-year entry-level contract with the Jets and he has signed an amateur try out with the Manitoba Moose to begin his professional career. The 22-year-old recently wrapped up his season with Quinnipiac University, after his second seeded Bobcats failed to advance to the Frozen Four with a loss to Michigan. He was very much the headliner of this team, serving as their captain, and leading the Bobcats in goals with 16 in 42 games. Most notably, Bongiovanni was top-five in the entire NCAA with 151 shots over that same span. He plays a responsible 200-foot game and efficiently finds open space to put himself in scoring positions. Although Bongiovanni may be a longshot for the NHL, he has very useful tools to demonstrate.  Justin Kaye
