Fantasy Summary
A fast skating offensive defenseman, Budik has quite a high ceiling in comparison to his draft position. A gifted player with great straight line speed, Budik could become a second pairing defender, however a main concern is his Hockey IQ and decision making, which makes his ceiling somewhat hard to reach.

June 2018 – Budik did not sign a contract with the Sabres by the deadline and so he is now an unrestricted free agent. Dobber
April 2018 – Czech defenseman Vojtech Budik was always a sleeper. In his draft year, Budik notched 16 points in 70 games, gaining little to no attention. The Sabres selected Budik in the fifth round back in 2016. Budik developed in the WHL with Prince Albert and continued to grow. In the 2016-2017 season, Budik notched 26 points, however only one of those was a goal. He struggled to show any offensive potential until this year. Budik finally broke out and registered 41 points, 14 of those goals. He joined the rush more, broke out the puck, and shot with more confidence. The natural offensive defenseman is primed for an amazing season next year, combining his incredible speed and breakout prowess. Marcus Griep
