June 2023 – Sund, 27, is very unlikely to ever make the NHL. After a rough season in the SHL, he has committed to HIFK in LIIGA for 2023-24. His NHL rights will expire, almost certainly closing the North American chapter of his career. Aaron Itovitch
March 2023 – Sund has been traded to the Canadiens as part of a three team deal between the Sharks, Penguins, and Canadiens. Donesh Mazloum
May 2022 – Sund will become an unrestricted free agent if he is not signed by June 30th, 2022. He has bounced around various European leagues, struggling to gain a foothold, and it is exceedingly unlikely that he will be tendered a contract. Donesh Mazloum
June 2019 – The Sharks signed Sund as a free agent in May of 2019. Sund will look to become another successful European free agent add by the Sharks organization. He spent the last two seasons playing in the Liiga, Finland’s top professional league; last season was a breakout offensively as he posted 35 points in 60 games. Great playmaker with a strong wrist shot, and brings additional value in multi-cat leagues that use hits and PIM. Look for Sund to get his feet wet in the AHL before he gets an NHL look. Chris Legg
