Patrick Guay

July 2023- Guay entered 2022-23, his age 20 season, with one remaining year of junior eligibility. However, after a dominant (belated) draft year, he and Golden Knights management decided on turning pro this past season, and it paid dividends for the undersized forward. In an unorthodox setup, the young Guay managed to lead the ECHL expansion Ghost Pirates in points with just over a point per game clip through 49 games. He also played his way to 17 games in the AHL  with Henderson. In doing so, Guay managed to not only show that he can play in the AHL in spite of size concerns, but did so in convincing fashion for a player of his age and draft status. Vegas will take their time with him, and next year we will see what he can do in a full AHL season. Taylor Davis

October 2022 – Guay made the most of his opportunities during his 2021-22 season, where he ranked second in the QMJHL in goals (55) and fifth in points (104) before going on to lead the “Q” in playoff scoring during Charlottetown’s run to the finals. All of it was enough to finally earn the offensively-minded forward a draft selection in his third year of eligibility, being taken by Vegas in the fifth round of the 2022 draft. As an overager, time will tell if his eye-popping stats during his final year of juniors were an accurate indication of his growth and future ceiling. He signed on to a two-year deal with the Knight’s AHL affiliate this summer, over the course of which the son of former NHLer François Guay will hope to show early signs of following in his father’s footsteps.
