August 2024 – Capone became an unrestricted free agent after not being offered a contract by the Tampa Bay Lightning on August 15, 2024, the NHL exclusive signing rights deadline. Mark Henry
May 2023 – Capone’s low NCAA scoring is not out of line when compared to his USHL and USHS point totals in the past, but the other aspects of his game which made him valuable to a team have not progressed. As he enters his Senior season at the University of Connecticut, Capone will have one last chance to prove his worthiness of either an NHL or AHL contract to Tampa Bay’s front office. Wade Messier
