Fantasy Summary
Physically imposing defender with impressive mobility for his size. Still a raw prospect but he features an extremely intriguing toolkit.

October 2024- Fully recovered from his shoulder surgery, Lamoureux had a very strong preseason with Utah. Starting the year in Tucson, Lamoureux was leading all Roadrunner defenseman in scoring with two goals and three points in four games. With both Sean Durzi and John Marino out long term with injuries, Lamoureux got his recalled and saw his first NHL game with Utah. In his second NHL game, he scored his first NHL goal with a bomb from the point https://youtu.be/jGJw5oPiz94. Keith Duggan
July 2024- After returning from the 2024 WJC, Lamoureux missed a month recovering from mononucleosis. Unfortunately, after returning from mono, he injured his shoulder, the opposite one Lamoureux injured a year ago. Another six-month recovery time, he missed important development time, Lamoureux never saw a playoff game for Drummondville, including their time in the Memorial Cup. Despite this, he still had an excellent 2023-24. Before his injury, Lamoureux was one of the best defensemen in the QMJHL, putting up nine goals and 33 points in 39 games. While Canada disappointed at the 2024 WJC, Lamoureux was one of their bright spots, playing well in a shutdown role. He averaged 24 minutes a night, led the team in plus-minus and was named one the club’s top three players. Lamoureux should be recovered for Utah training camp and could push for a roster spot but more likely spends the year in Tucson. Keith Duggan
December 2023- At seven goals and 27 points in 25 games, Lamoureux is currently fourth among QMJHL defensemen in scoring. The big man has been named to Canada’s team for the 2024 WJC tournament. He probably will not see any power play time with the squad, Lamoureux will kill penalties and match up against other team’s top lines in a shutdown role. Keith Duggan
October 2023- Lamoureux has been outstanding so far in 2023-24 for Drummondville. He has four goals and 10 points in seven games and outside of a two-game suspension for a knee on knee hit, a solid argument could be made that he has been one of the best defensemen in the QMJHL. The big defenseman still needs plenty of development time, but this recent play has the Coyotes excited for the future. Keith Duggan
June 2023- Offense was a big question mark on Lamoureux, leaving many to question the Coyotes using a first-round pick to select him in last year’s draft. The big defenseman put up decent numbers in 2022-23 though, five goals and 19 points in 35 games. That was after he missed the first few months with offseason shoulder surgery, which cost him precious development time and caused a slow start when he rejoined Drummondville of the QMJHL. Like many players that possess the size of Lamoureux (6-7), he will need to keep developing the coordination to function and thrive at an NHL pace. He also needs to keep filling out as Lamoureux is still very skinny, listed at 198 lbs. Keith Duggan
July 2022 – Arizona has selected Lamoureux with the 29th overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft. Nick Richard
May 2022 – A former first-round pick in the QMJHL draft, Lamoureux took a step forward in his second season with Drummondville. He was able to impose his will on the opposition more regularly and netted 24 points through 54 games while playing heavy minutes for the Voltigeurs.
Lamoureux is a physical monster, standing at 6-7 and weighing close to 200 pounds. He puts that massive frame to good use and consistently finishes his checks with authority. When defending the rush, he uses his large wingspan to maintain a tight gap and direct players to the outside where he is always eager to drive attacking forwards into the boards. He is equally imposing when defending the net-front or battling for pucks down low in the defensive zone as he combines strong physical play with a good stick to break up plays or box out opponents. Lamoureux isn’t just some hulking bruiser, however, and he displays impressive mobility for a player his size. While there is still room for improvement in terms of body control as he continues to mature physically, he can shake forecheckers with quick fakes or changes of direction and he knows how to use his large frame to protect the puck. Lamoureux will occasionally push the pace by attempting to skate the puck up ice or by firing a long pass but he isn’t an offensive driver from the back end. He does control the offensive blue line fairly well and he has a heavy shot, so there may be some untapped upside there. Still a raw prospect who will have to improve his ability to make plays under pressure as he climbs the ranks, Lamoureux’s combination of size, physicality, and mobility is sure to have teams salivating ahead of the 2022 NHL Draft.
