April 2025 – The Nashville Predators signed Murray to a two-year, two-way contract that runs through the 2026-27 season. Mark Henry
June 2023 – Murray signed a one-year, two-way contract in the off-season. He is expected to be the third backup option for the Dallas Stars should any injuries occur during the season. Murray had a solid season as the primary goaltender for the Texas Stars, in which they won the division. Taylor Newby
March 2023 – Murray has found himself bouncing between being the starter for the Texas Stars and backing up Jake Oettinger due to injuries. He made his NHL debut on March 2nd and recorded his first NHL win against the Chicago Blackhawks. He is growing into a solid goaltender and should be in the NHL within the next couple of years. Taylor Newby
December 2022 – Matt Murray is not yet an NHL goaltender, unlike his same-named Toronto Maple Leafs counterpart. His AHL play, however, has been inspiring for a future NHL netminder. He won’t wow you with any aspect of the position, but his awareness is fantastic. His puck-tracking abilities are among the best of any goaltender in the Stars system, not Jake Oettinger. His numbers don’t tell the whole story, as his sub-.900 (.898) save percentage is relatively average. He has become a real 1B option behind Anton Khudobin and will likely take the starting role once Khudobin’s contract expires. Aaron Itovitch
