Fantasy Summary

Big goalie with quick reflexes. Lateral mobility sometimes a question but can make up for it with strong positioning and instincts.

Observations

June 2025 – Mandolese got into 19 AHL contests for Colorado, ultimately losing the crease to tandem-mate Trent Miner. His stat line averages out to a nice number but his starts can be wildly inconsistent – he has a relatively narrow middle ground between being stellar or very bad. Expect more AHL time until he can find more consistency and potentially impress in a call-up pinch. The RFA doesn’t yet have a contract for 2025-26, but his upside will certainly give him another AHL chance somewhere else if Colorado decides to move on. Hayden Soboleski

September 2024 – The Avalanche acquired Mandolese in exchange for a 6th-round pick this offseason and he is currently expected to be an AHL tandem-partner for Trent Miner. The 24-year-old’s long-term NHL prospects are slim, but he currently sits 3rd on the Avs goalie depth chart which means he may see 1 or 2 NHL starts if the injury bug causes trouble. He would be a streaming option in that scenario due to the strong team in front of him, but not worth drafting to start the campaign. Hayden Soboleski

May 2023 – Mandolese played seven games in the ECHL, 17 in the AHL and three in the NHL with Ottawa, so it was quite an adventure for him. He’s played just 59 games over the past three seasons at all levels, so the club will look for him to play at least 30 games next season in the AHL and get some footing at that level. Grant Campbell

June 2022 – The 22-year-old Mandolese saw 17 games in Belleville in the AHL where he had a 3.12 GAA and a 90.1 save percentage. Because of the crowded crease in Belleville he saw six games with Atlanta in the ECHL and had a 2.68 GAA and a 91.6 save percentage. He should have the back up role in Belleville next season and get into 25-35 games as he continues to progress. Grant Campbell

March 2021 – Mandolese is off to a solid start in his first professional campaign, stopping 42 pucks to earn his first professional win in a 3-2 game against the Toronto Marlies. Despite limited action so far, his lateral movement and ability to track the puck in high danger situations has been extremely impressive. The only thing holding Mandolese back so far is the pure number of goalies ahead of him in the Senators’ system. With that being said, the injury bug has hit the organization hard, so keep an eye out for more opportunities to arise in the future. Jacob Barker
