Doman Szongoth

September 2026 – Doman Szongoth is a diligent two-way center the Buffalo Sabres selected 156th overall, and a genuine piece of history: a Budapest native who became just the fourth Hungarian-born player ever drafted and the first since 2002. He spent 2025-26 with KooKoo’s junior team in Finland’s top under-20 league, posting 28 points in 44 games, captained Hungary at the under-18 qualifiers, and scored a goal at the senior World Championship in Switzerland as a draft-eligible. His game is built on detail and effort. He is always scanning and identifying assignments, supports his defensemen, and leans on a 195-pound frame to win pucks down low and along the walls, a projectable, competitive two-way base. Skating is the acknowledged area to improve. He comes to North America this fall, joining the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds of the Ontario Hockey League after being taken in the CHL Import Draft, a meaningful step up in competition.
