June 2018 – Zaitsev will not be signed by the Capitals after being drafted in 2016 and will re-enter the 2018 NHL Draft. Pat Quinn
January 2018 – The Capitals may have drafted another two-way steady defenseman, this time out of the seventh round. Currently playing on the loaded Moose Jaw Warriors Zaitsev has been one of their best defensemen. The Warriors recently added Kyle Clague at the deadline knocking Zaitsev off of any real power play opportunities, as he already was playing behind Jett Woo (2018 top prospect) for those prime minutes. Zaitsev does have 22 points in 41 games so there is offense there, he just may be better suited in a two-way shut down role. Pat Quinn
