July 2025 – After a few seasons in the OHL, Sobolev has returned to Russia to play in the VHL. Sobolev continues to play a physical, defensive game that can help with hits and blocks in fantasy if he ever makes it to the NHL. Although he’s only 22 years old, if he’s not playing in the KHL by the end of the 2025-26 season, or back in North America to play in the AHL – it’s hard to imagine Sobolev ever being on your fantasy radar. July 2021 – Sobolev’s game is more defined by his defensive game than his offensive game, which is why his six points in 48 MHL games did not come as a surprise.
