Fantasy Summary
Well-rounded scoring forward with some power elements to his game. A bit of a late bloomer but could see time as a depth player in the NHL.

March 2024 – Toronto has announced that McMann has signed a two-year, $1.35 million AAV contract extension. The 27-year-old’s stock has risen a ton this season with 10 goals and 18 points through 42 games. He has shown great two-way play and the versatility to play up and down the lineup. Curtis Rines
February 2024 – What a month for McMann. In 10 games this February, the Canadian winger has scored seven goals and 10 points including a hat trick performance against the St. Louis Blues. McMann’s strong play has earned him a promotion to the third-line alongside John Tavares and Nick Robertson as well as some extra powerplay time. He has become an integral depth scorer in the Maple Leafs lineup and if this level of play continues, it will be a huge boost for Toronto down the stretch. Curtis Rines
January 2024 – McMann has finally broken through to the NHL level on a consistent basis. The 27-year-old has been a staple on the fourth line since Ryan Reaves got injured, playing 22 games thus far with two goals and seven points. The more intriguing aspect of McMann’s game has been his defensive play. McMann’s xGA/60 currently sits at 2.43, which ranks second amongst Leafs forwards. Although his scoring touch may not translate to the NHL level at a similar rate, McMann could be a useful piece on a bottom-six shutdown line moving forward. Curtis Rines
November 2023 – Due to injury, McMann did not participate in training camp, which made his chances to make the Leafs’ opening night roster slim. However, after getting six games under his belt with the Marlies, scoring three points in the process, McMann has been called up to the NHL. Toronto hopes he can prove to be a solution for a fourth line that has been caved in all season thus far. McMann has been an effective scorer in the minors with a 0.60 points-per-game rate through 118 AHL contests, but his ceiling at the NHL seems limited to a depth role at best. Curtis Rines
January 2023 – After a solid start to his season with the Toronto Marlies, Bobby McMann has been given a chance to show his worth at the NHL level. Although he has been held off the scoresheet through his first five games, McMann has shown excellent forechecking abilities and an underrated shot. It’s unlikely he will stick around all the way until playoffs, especially if the Maple Leafs make a couple of trade acquisitions up front, but it is a positive development to know he can be a depth option down the stretch. May 2022 – It was a breakout season in the AHL for McMann after beginning the campaign with the Newfoundland Growlers of the ECHL. After an injury forced top prospect Nick Robertson out of the lineup early in the season, McMann was recalled to the AHL and took full advantage of the opportunity. He played all over the lineup throughout the season and added a spark to whatever unit he was skating with, ultimately finishing with a Marlies rookie record of 24 goals to go along with 11 assists in 61 games. That production, combined with his well-rounded game, high compete level, and power forward traits earned him a two-year entry-level contract with the Leafs that will kick in at the beginning of the 2022-23 season. Something of a late bloomer, the undrafted McMann has continued to develop into his mid-twenties while climbing the ranks from the ECHL to the doorstep of the NHL. He should get a look in training camp next fall and with another strong start in the AHL, he could eventually force his way into the conversation as a depth option for the Leafs. Nick Richard
