Ben MacBeath

June 2026 – Ben MacBeath has two of the most important qualities a defensive prospect needs: size and skating. He is relied upon as the Calgary Hitmen’s breakout man whenever he is on the ice and has the mobility to carry the puck or pass the puck up the ice. His defensive game stands out as well, as he can break up cycles, can negate rush chances by matching speed, and gaps up when the time is appropriate. His offensive production does not look like it will translate to the highest level, but his ability to move the puck will ensure that he gets assists here and there while also bringing a strong defensive game. While he may never be a big point scorer, he will bring a valuable game, and if he develops right, he could get power-play time at the NHL level. James Connelly
