August 2024 – Ostapchuk is the lone bright spot from the Senators 2021 draft class. He made great strides in his game this past year and earned his way into the NHL lineup for a seven-game stint. At this point in his development, Ostapchuk will most likely become an NHL regular in the next one to three years. As soon as this season, he could be manning the faceoff dot on the Senators’ fourth line. If not, another year in Belleville will be good for his development. He prides himself on his two-way game, and that will pay off in spades for him as he’s a player who realistically will not be a top-six player in the NHL. Naftali Clinton
September 2023 – Ostapchuk was named the captain for the first two games of the prospects tournament held in Buffalo. The Senator’s coaching staff were impressed with Ostapchuk’s play away from the puck and his hockey IQ. His foot speed is still an issue along with a lack of high-end offensive creativity or puck skills. His ceiling could be that of a third-line center. Grant Campbell
May 2023 – Ostapchuk was traded from the Vancouver Giants to the Winnipeg Ice and are currently playing in the WHL Finals against the Seattle Thunderbirds. Split between Vancouver and Winnipeg, Ostapchuk played 55 games and had 31 goals and 36 assists. After 16 games in the playoffs he had nine goals and three assists. Ostapchuk will more than likely turn pro next year and be in Belleville. Grant Campbell
December 2022 – Ostapchuk will be a member of Team Canada at the 2023 World Junior Championships. At the break he was the third leading scorer with the Vancouver Giants of the WHL with 10 goals and 19 assists in only 21 games. He will hope to have an elevated role in the top-six during the tournament this year for Canada. This will be his second tournament after playing seven games with one goal and two assists in 2022. August 2022 – Ostapchuk had a limited role on Team Canada at the U20 World Juniors and ended up with one goal and two assists in seven games. He could be back for the 2023 U20 World Juniors as he is still only 18 years of age. Grant Campbell
May 2022 – Not only did the Vancouver Giants make the WHL playoffs, they pulled off a huge upset by beating the heavily favored Everett Silvertips in the first round before going down to the Kamloops Blazers in the second round. Zach Ostapchuk was a big part of that as he finished with seven goals and 16 assists in 12 games. Expectations will be high for him next season. Grant Campbell
April 2022 – The 18-year-old Ostapchuk will look to finish the 2021-22 with the Vancouver Giants of the WHL on a good note, as they will not be playoff bound. After a stretch of five goals in three games, he is up to 24 goals in 57 games and currently leads the Giants in that category with three games left in the regular season. Ostapchuk will more than likely be back in the WHL next season and could put up some pretty good numbers at 19-years-old. Grant Campbell
July 2021- With the 39th overall pick in the 2021 NHL draft, the Ottawa Senators selected Ostapchuk from the Vancouver Giants. Ostapchuk fits the Senators brand of play style quite well, as he brings a physical presence on to the ice every time he hops over the boards, which paired with his powerful stride and strong offensive instincts make him a challenging player to defend. He seems like a pretty safe NHLer as he can be relied upon to fill a role on pretty much any line. That being said, it will be interesting to follow his development over the next couple of seasons to see if he can find a level of consistency that turns him into a high-end producer at the next level.
