Fantasy Summary
A poised defender who passes the puck well.
Observations
June 2026 – Trudeau was dealt to the Rangers in return for disgruntled forward prospect Brett Berard, and the left-shot defenseman was given a qualifying offer by New York. Trudeau appeared in 62 games with the AHL’s Laval Rocket during the 2025-26 season, his fourth full season with Laval. The 23 year old Canadian posted 20 points a season ago, and has yet to appear in an NHL game. With the additions to the Rangers’ organization this offseason on the left side of the defense, both via draft and trade, it remains to be seen if the organization will sign Trudeau and slot him in on their AHL team’s blueline, or try to move him for a draft pick or other asset. Brendan Ferry
July 2025 – Trudeau re-signed with the Montreal Canadiens to a one-year, two-way contract for the 2025-26 season. During the 2024-25 season, he played 68 games in the American Hockey League with the Canadiens’ AHL affiliate, the Laval Rocket. Since his professional debut during the 2022-23 season, Trudeau has played in 198 AHL games with Laval and has not made his NHL debut. An organizational depth defenseman who will play the majority of his career in the AHL, Trudeau has no fantasy value and does not need to be rostered in any league. Mark Henry
September 2023 – Trudeau was the best player for the Canadiens at their prospect tournament this year. After a very successful season in Laval, on a second pair with Nicolas Beaudin, Trudeau has emerged as a possible NHL candidate very soon. His high-end defensive play often goes unnoticed, which is the best possible thing that can be said for a 20-year-old in the AHL. He will be elevated along with Beaudin to the first pair in Laval this season, and, injuries allowing, could see an NHL debut at the young age of 21. The Canadiens may have hit a slam dunk in 2021. Aaron Itovitch
July 2021 – Trudeau had a breakout season in the QMJHL with 31 points in 40 games, which tied him for 8th in the league in defensive scoring. Trudeau was drafted in the fourth round at 113 overall by the Montreal Canadiens. Pablo Ruiz
