Will Cranley

June 2025 – The St.Louis Blues signed Cranley to a one-year, two-way contract extension on May 1, 2025. He will make $775,000 in the NHL, $85,000 in the AHL.

Cranley spent the majority of the 2024-25 season with the Blues’ ECHL affiliate, the Florida Everblades; in 23 regular-season games, he posted an 11-9-3 record with a 2.71 GAA, a .896 save percentage, and two shutouts. He also played in two games for the Blues’ AHL affiliate, the Springfield Thunderbirds. He has no fantasy value; he has a long way to go to make it to the NHL, if he even does. Mark Henry

February 2024 – With the Blues not having an ECHL affiliate and their depth at the goalie position, Cranley, who is in his first season as a pro, has already played for two different teams in the ECHL. He initially started this season with the Reading Royals, where he posted decent stats but managed only one win in six games. Following this stint, he was loaned to the Utah Grizzlies. In 12 games with the Grizzlies, his stats suffered, likely exacerbated by the fact that the team had five different goalies play games for them throughout the season. Additionally, the mid-season switch of teams further complicated matters for the young goaltender. Overall, it has been a challenging situation for Cranley to navigate in his rookie year as a pro. September 2023 – Despite moving to the Flint Firebirds, Cranley’s performance has not changed. For the third consecutive season, he ended up with a less than .900% save percentage (.884) and, for the second successive season, with a higher than 3.8 goals against average (3.87). Cranley doesn’t seem to have yet figured out the OHL, and unfortunately for him, he will not have another season there to prove his worth since he is no longer eligible to play there. With a system complete of talented goalies, it will be interesting to see where Cranley will play next season. Cedrick Blais-Turcotte 

July 2023 – Following three seasons with the Ottawa 67’s, Cranley was traded to the Flint Firebirds just before last season. Cranley’s performance remained the same, leading to him playing very little in the playoffs with almost no success. As the years go by, Cranley’s path to the NHL becomes increasingly uncertain in a system full of talented goalies. Cedrick Blais-Turcotte

June 2022 – Cranley played 41 games with the Ottawa 67’s in the OHL in his DY+2, putting up a .873% save percentage. The one playoff game he featured in didn’t go any better as he held a .840% save percentage.  In March, the Blues signed him to a three-year ELC, showing their belief in him as a prospect. They will hope Cranley can put this behind him and continue to develop down the right path, likely in the ECHL. Gordon Munro

October 2020 – Cranley was drafted 163rd overall by the St. Louis Blues. He spent last season as the backup goaltender for the Ottawa 67’s, where he posted 18 wins, a 2.81 GAA, and a .894 save percentage in 21 games. Lou Farrah
