Ty Young

February 2025 – Young’s final WHL season was a step up from the previous. He raised his save percentage to above .900 and split starts with Joshua Ravensbergen for Prince George. This season, Young has played in both Kalamazoo and Abbotsford and has been equally impressive in each. He’s only appeared in five AHL games but posted a .915 save percentage and earned three wins. In the ECHL, Young has been even better, sporting a .921 save percentage in 13 outings. With the Canucks’ organizational goaltending being a bit crowded, the path to the NHL for Young seems cloudy. However, with his play this season, he has put himself in consideration should spots open in Abbotsford next season. Nick Orr

October 2023 – Since his draft, Young has taken a step back, posting an .889 save percentage last season compared to .899 the year before. After being one of the first cuts in the Canucks’ training camp this season, Young has signed his first NHL contract. However, this contract will not take effect until Young transitions to the professional level. Cedrick Blais-Turcotte

July 2022 – Young, just 17, was drafted 144th overall by the Vancouver Canucks. The Alberta native split his season between the AJHL and WHL last year, posting a respectable 6-9-3 record (.899 save percentage) with the Prince Goerge Cougars.
