June 2023 – Petrovsky was drafted in the 2022 NHL Draft, as one of the members of the most highly touted generation of Slovakian hockey players in recent memory. He played his 2022-23 season for the Owen Sound Attack of the OHL in his second season in North America. He stayed relatively consistent compared to his 2021-22 season putting up 24 goals and 31 assists in 62 games. Petrovsky has a well-rounded skillset that could find him a depth role in the NHL in the future, but he remains at least two years away from playing in the NHL and it will be curious to see how he performs in his next season in the OHL. July 2022 – The Minnesota Wild have selected Petrovský in the sixth round of the 2022 NHL Draft. Nick Richard
May 2022 – Petrovský had a solid year for a decent Owen Sound squad, finishing third in team scoring with 28 goals and 26 assists in 65 games. He also represented Slovakia at last summer’s Hlinka Gretzky Cup, tallying five points in five games, as well as at the abbreviated World Juniors.
Petrovský is a well-rounded forward who displays adaptability in his game. Though he isn’t overly flashy, he is capable as both a distributor and a finisher. His intelligence helps make up for his lack of elite-level skill as he is able to make timely reads and hunt space to make himself available in scoring areas. Petrovský can be shifty with the puck on his stick and despite not having blazing speed, he is able to maneuver around checks in tight areas. While he occasionally shows some creativity in his playmaking, added pace and deception would help unlock more offense. His ability to read the game translates to the defensive side of the puck as well and he is in the right position to discourage a pass or support his teammates more often than not. He isn’t the biggest player but he competes hard along the boards, utilizing good positioning and quick hands to battle for contested pucks. Petrovský has some special teams utility as he can be used on both the powerplay and penalty kill, but probably not as a primary feature on either unit. There may not be anything that jumps off the screen when you watch him play but there aren’t any real glaring holes in Petrovský’s game either. He is expected to be chosen somewhere in the middle rounds of the 2022 NHL Draft. Nick Richard
