Fantasy Summary

Big, technically-sound netminder who covers a ton of net. Could become an NHL starter with improvements to his footwork and positioning.

Observations

July 2025 – Mikhail Yegorov broke out as a freshman at Boston University, finishing with an 11–6–1 record, a .927 save percentage, and a 2.15 goals-against average while helping BU reach the Frozen Four. His performance turned heads, including Devils GM Tom Fitzgerald, who acknowledged his name came up around the NHL trade deadline, a clear sign of his growing value. At the development camp, Yegorov stood out with his poise and refined technical game. He will return to BU for his sophomore season, aiming to build on a strong foundation under the college system before making the jump to pro hockey. Yegorov is shaping into a legitimate goaltending prospect for New Jersey. While there is no rush, his trajectory suggests future NHL backup potential, with enough upside to possibly grow into more. Puneet Sharma

December 2024 – After being drafted in the second round of the 2024 NHL Draft, Yegorov has already been touted as arguably the Devils’ best goaltending prospect. He certainly has the size for it at 6-5 and is highly athletic despite simplifying his approach. He doesn’t leave the crease much and is content sitting back and letting his frame do the work on odd-man opportunities against him. He needs some polishing, as is expected from an 18-year-old, but his quickness for his size is encouraging. There is undoubtedly a path forward for him to become an NHL regular in a few years. June 2024 – Yegorov was selected in the second round, 49th overall, by the New Jersey Devils in the 2024 NHL Draft. Hadi Kalakeche

June 2024 — A late riser in the year’s rankings, Yegorov was ranked number 1 among North American goaltenders by NHL Central Scouting. Yegorov has plenty of pro-style tools: he uses his frame well to cut off angles and seal the ice down low, he has above-average hands, and he has excellent tracking abilities. However, his skating can occasionally be questionable, leaving him out of position on the odd chance. Colin Hunter

Final ranking: 114th
