Logan Cockerill

March 2022 – The smallish 23-year-old winger has taken a step back offensively in his third season at Boston College. After finishing his pandemic-abbreviated sophomore schedule with 10 points in 12 games, he has just 11 points in 30 outings as a junior. He almost certainly will return to BC for his senior year. July 2021 – Still a longshot to have a long pro career, Cockerill nonetheless posted five goals and five assists in 12 games to end his tenure at Boston U. Graduating from the A to captain in his senior year, the seventh-round pick remains without a pro contract. Mark Allan

March 2021 – After posting five points in 18 outings as an assistant captain with Boston U, Cockerill already has 10 points in nine appearances as team captain in his senior campaign. An offensive surge to finish the season wouldn’t hurt his odds of being offered his first pro contract. Mark Allan

January 2021 – Cockerill’s two goals helped Boston U balance its record at 1-1 with a 6-4 win over Providence. The undersized former seventh-round draft pick scored shorthanded and then with just one second left. He’s serving as captain in his final campaign with the Terriers. Mark Allan

March 2020 – Cockerill’s development at Boston University is trending in reverse. After a promising 20 points in 37 outings as a freshman, the puny (5-9, 165-pound) winger dipped to 11 points as a sophomore in the same number of appearances. An upper-body injury cost the 21-year-old about a month of his junior campaign. An empty-net insurance goal in a 3-1 victory over the U of New Hampshire was the assistant captain’s first goal since returning. Five points in 16 games does not inspire confidence that the seventh-round pick will eventually reach the NHL. Mark Allan

April 2019 – Cockerill’s offensive numbers nearly decreased by half from last season as he was only able to put up 11 points in 37 games this season for Boston University. Cockerill will be a player that BU will rely upon heavily next season as many of their top-scorers from this season have fled to the pros.  He has not shown thus far that he can carry a heavy offensive workload, which is something that should be a worry for the Islanders. They will have to keep an eye on him next season to get a better gauge on where he fits in their future plans. Nate Duffett

December 2018 – Despite low offensive numbers to start his sophomore year, Cockerill has made the final roster and will play for team USA at 2019 IIHF World Juniors. He is one USA’s fastest and more responsible skaters who is expected to be relied upon in a defensive role for the squad. Jesse Sherman
