May 2024 – Ivan made the most of his AHL contract and has been rewarded with a 2-year ELC starting in 2024-25. His 31 points in 67 contests was respectable for a rookie, and while none of his peripheral stats were enormous, all are within range of fantasy-relevance if he can build on his solid debut. He has impressed the coaching staff thanks to his reliable play game-in and game-out even during cold spells, and could be in line for even more responsibility in 2024-25. An NHL tryout is likely still a year or two away, but his eventual NHL likelihood has jumped. Hayden Soboleski
September 2023 – After a reasonably productive QMJHL career culminating in a campaign of 33 goals and 90 points in 64 games, Ivan Ivan has signed a one-ear AHL dead with the Colorado Eagles. This was not a notable signing over the summer, however a very strong training camp has put Ivan on the radar in Colorado. The centerman was given lots of time in-game and in-practice with NHLers on the PK, and was praised by coach Bednar for being able to “rely on him in a bunch of different ways”, which is a fact that the organization strongly values. Due to his contract he won’t be seeing any call-up duty in 2023-24, however he in on track to earn decent minutes in the AHL which is always a good first step towards producing. Ivan racked up his fair share of PIMs in the Q so any fantasy future is most likely in multi-cat formats, but at this stage he is a “wait and see” name for your lists. Hayden Soboleski
