Fantasy Summary
A ginormous forward with the skill to play as a prototypical modern power forward.
Observations
July 2026 – Belchetz took another major step forward during the 2025-26 season with the Windsor Spitfires, establishing himself as one of the top power forwards in the 2026 NHL Draft class. The 6-foot-5 winger continued to lean into his biggest strengths, using his size, strength, and shooting ability to become a more consistent offensive threat. He showed improved confidence carrying the puck, creating space in the offensive zone, and using his physical tools to extend plays. His goal-scoring touch remained his biggest weapon, but his overall offensive game became more well-rounded throughout the season.
There are still questions about his skating, particularly his acceleration and ability to separate from defenders at higher levels, but Belchetz’s combination of skill, compete level, and size gives him one of the higher floors among draft-eligible forwards. An injury ended his season early, but it does not appear to have impacted his long-term projection. If his skating continues to improve, he has the potential to develop into a top-six power winger at the NHL level. Jayd Serdy
June 2026 – Belchetz was selected 17th overall by Utah, as the team continues its trend of drafting large players that have speed. Pat Quinn
August 2025 – The hulking Belchetz was one of Canada’s most leaned-upon offensive players in August’s Hlinka-Gretzky Cup, bringing many of the elements that make him such a classically enticing prospect. Belchetz tied for the team lead in goals, most of them coming on plays right around the netfront.
Belchetz is a very tall, very heavy forward who skates well and plays a modern power forward game. He does most of his damage right in the goalie’s face, but his handling skill is impressive—as evidenced by his slick goal in the bronze medal game. Belchetz has the potential to dominate the OHL this season.–Luke Sweeney
