August 2024 – Cholowski re-signed with the Islanders to a one-year, two-way deal. He offers some extra defensive depth to the organization and some veteran leadership for the Bridgeport Islanders, where he will look to help lead some of the young prospects as they start their professional careers. He offers some valuable experience, having played lots of AHL games and spent some time in the NHL. Cholowski will enter training camp ready to show his worth to the Islanders brass and fight for a potential seventh defensemen spot in the NHL. William Langstaff
July 2023 – Cholowski recorded his best pro season to date in 2023 with the Islanders’ AHL affiliate in Bridgeport. The offense-minded defenseman recorded a career-high 38 points in 2022-23, with 22 points coming via the power play. Cholowski is under contract with the Islanders for 2023-24 and will likely begin next season with Bridgeport. James Iacavone
August 2022 – Cholowski has signed a two-year contract with the New York Islanders, carrying an AAV of $762,500. Nick Richard
October 2021- Cholowski was claimed on waivers by the Washington Capitals. Alex Wyatt
October 2021- Cholowski was placed on waivers to be sent to Charlotte. Given the Kraken’s depth on defense, this may be where Cholowski spends the majority of his season should he go unclaimed.  He was playing with Seattle due to the team’s COVID situation. If any injuries arise, perhaps he will be the first in line to be called up. We shall see in due time. Alex Wyatt

October 2021 – Cholowski has seen 20 minutes a night in two preseason games, with as many assists, with the log jam of bottom four defensemen on the Kraken at the moment, he will have to beat out Carson Soucy and Haydn Fleury for any meaningful minutes for Seattle for the time being. Alex Wyatt

July 2021 – Cholowski has been selected in the 2021 expansion draft and will join the Seattle Kraken organization. Dave Hall

October 2020 – After spending most of the 2018-2019 season with the big club, Cholowski bounced between the NHL and AHL last season. The 2016 first round pick is a strong skater and capable puck mover who makes his presence felt as an offensive threat from the back end. However, he has struggled to defend consistently at the pro level and will need to improve that part of his game as he pushes for a permanent role with the Red Wings this coming season. Nick Richard

October 2019 – Cholowski made the Red Wings for the second year in a row out of camp as a third-pairing defenseman, but also as a first powerplay quarterback, at least to start the season. The Red Wings like his puck-moving ability and the fact that he is left-handed, which helps when setting up Anthony Mantha for one-timers. Cholowski is still perhaps under the radar in most fantasy leagues, but not for long. Mark Hillier
May 2019 – Cholowski flew out of the gates last year, exceeding most expectations in his rookie NHL campaign. A smooth skater with offensive instincts, Cholowski plays with the poise of a veteran. However, as is the case with many first year players, Cholowski struggled in the defensive zone and slowed down as the season progressed, so he was sent back down to the AHL to continue his development and work on his defensive game. Expect him back in the fall competing for a job with the Red Wings. Mark Hillier
October 2018 – Cholowski was considered by many to be a dark horse with an outside shot at making the Wings out of camp this year. Partially due to injuries to veterans, but even more so due to a stellar preseason, the young defenseman not only made the big club – he earned himself a top pairing role which includes power play and shorthanded time. When Mike Green returns to the lineup, Cholowski’s ice time will likely be scaled back, but his projection as a potential top-four defenseman down the road is now looking more like a potential number one who can play big minutes and in all situations, and much earlier than expected. The Red Wings are clearly impressed with his development and should continue to give him every chance to flourish. Mark Hillier

April 2018 – Cholowski continues to develop at a nice pace as a two-way defender with very good skating and playmaking skills.  He can run a power play, has good mobility and transitions the puck well out of the defensive zone. Most recently a point-a-game player at the junior level, Cholowski will soon begin his career as a professional at the AHL level and compete with a number of good Red Wings defensive prospects. Cholowski still projects as a top-four NHL defenceman with offensive upside. Mark Hillier

November 2017 – Since opting out of university to sign a contract with the Red Wings, Cholowski has made a relatively smooth adjustment to playing in the WHL for the Prince George Cougar. Despite going pointless in his last four games, the young rearguard has still tallied a respectable five goals and 14 points in 17 games played. His strong play earned him a spot on team WHL earlier this month as they faced team Russia in the 2017 CIBC Canada Russia Series where he recorded one assist in the game two game matchup. Cholowski has the potential to play on Canada’s world junior team next month. Jameson Ewasiuk

June 2017 – On April 5th Cholowski opted to leave St. Cloud State and sign a three-year entry-level contract with the Red Wings. Two days later he signed an ATO with Detroit’s farm team, the Grand Rapids Griffins. He played one regular season game for the Griffins and has since served as an extra player while they compete for the Calder Cup. Cholowski has reportedly put on 10-15 lbs since being drafted but he still has a lot of filling out to do. His beautiful, fluid skating coupled with his strong puck handling allows him to control the pace of play when he has possession of the puck. His vision and ability to read plays allows him to deliver pinpoint accurate passes to his teammates. Cholowski is still very raw but displays flashes of brilliance. Continuing to add strength would not only allow him to become a more reliable defender but also help improve his shot velocity. Cholowski will either play for the AHL’s Grand Rapids Griffins this season or the WHL’s Prince George Cougars. Jameson Ewasiuk

July 2016 – Cholowski was a steady riser on the draft rankings all season, starting out off most scouts lists, becoming a sleeper pick until he ended up being selected in the first round. Cholowski is a steady and intelligent two-way player. Cholowski can provide fantasy value via his offensive skills and excellent vision and ability to read plays and make effective decisions. Defensively he is reliable with a smart and active stick. He has good mobility and is an effective physical player as well. Cholowski will play the coming season in the NCAA for St. Cloud University where he will need to add some strength, and continue to develop and show he can be effective against stronger competition than the BCHL.  Peter Harling
