Fantasy Summary

A heady player with a heavy shot, his hard skills and timing could be leveraged even more with skating improvements.

Observations

September 2026 – Idzan’s freshman year at Wisconsin produced five points in 20 games – a significant drop from the 44-point USHL campaign that had generated organizational excitement following his 2025 sixth-round selection by Ottawa. The Croatian winger’s most dangerous tool is an elite shot, and the hockey intelligence to find space and use it are genuine assets. But the skating, which has always been choppy, looked underpowered against NCAA competition, and without improved foot speed it will be difficult to operationalize the offensive game at higher levels. Another year at Wisconsin provides an opportunity to address those gaps before the pro jump. A long-term dynasty watchlist name to consider in deeper formats. Ryan Downey

August 2025 – What a masterclass in overseas amateur scouting by the Sens. Idzan – 6-0, 194 lbs – brings a ton of upside late in the draft, not typical of most re-entry picks. A quiet D-0 year in Sweden led to a breakout D+1 season in Europe and the USHL.

After torching the AlpsHL (21G, 9A in 21GP) – a second-tier pro league – Idzan made a move to the USHL, where he racked up 44 points in 36 games. That production already puts him ahead of current Sens prospect Javon Moore, who also spent his D+1 season in the USHL. Next year, Idzan will play for Wisconsin in the NCAA.

Built around a booming, adaptive shot and sharp awareness, Idzan uses his elusiveness, physicality, and reads to consistently attack soft ice. If he translates that to college hockey, he could prove to be a gem. Worth putting on your watchlist in deep dynasty leagues, but don’t rush to add him. Arden McLeod

June 2025 – Selected 181st overall, Bruno Idzan is now a member of the Ottawa Senators. Mark Henry

June 2025 — A 19-year-old re-entry, the Croatian is already a bit of a journeyman at his young age, having played J20 hockey for both Malmö and HV71 last year. He then returned to the Alps Hockey League in 2025, where he played 19 games in his home country before finally landing with the USHL’s Lincoln. Here, he played some of his best hockey in recent memory, only experiencing a minor scoring decrease from the AlpsHL.

Idzan was one of the USHL’s highest scorers on a per-game basis, thanks in large part to his shot, which is among the draft’s best. While he lacks any other high end tools (his handling and playmaking are ok, his skating has some power but is very choppy) he thinks the game at a high level. As a trailer, he’ll drift into the zone lackadaisically, only to arrive in the perfect time and space to receive a pass. He’s adept at disappearing into coverage and at getting to his spots. He might not be the flashiest or most exciting, but after another year of development with the University of Wisconsin and some time with an NHL development team, he could become a super effective bottom-six option—Luke Sweeney
