Fantasy Summary

An undersized playmaking winger with great skating and passing ability. A very creative and dynamic player in the offensive zone. Doesn’t add much to the game from a defensive or physical standpoint.

April 2024 – Pashin’s season came to an end recently after Spartak Moscow lost in the KHL playoffs. It was an interesting season for Pashin, who probably was not expecting to go back to Russia so soon, but after the Carolina Hurricanes failed to secure an AHL affiliation, he was less than happy to report to the ECHL and this was the logical solution. In 71 games this season, Pashin produced 12 goals and 11 assists for 23 points which is a respectable season for a player that had only played four KHL games previously. He showed growth from his one-off season with the Chicago Wolves in the AHL, becoming noticeably more confident with the puck on his stick and improving his overall play enough to stick around in the KHL at just 21 years old. Pashin should be back in North America next season but still projects as a couple years away from playing in NHL games. Nick Bass

June 2023 – After a pretty solid season in the VHL in 2021-22 for Toros Neftekamsk, Pashin made the jump to the AHL for the 2022-23 season. This jump seemed to prove a little too big right away as Pashin posted only 10 points in 47 games for the Chicago Wolves. Pashin showed that same creativity and skating that he was drafted for but just struggled to adapt to the change of pace and style in North America. Pashin still has legit top-nine skill that can have some opportunities on special teams, but he’s still a good few years away from playing his first game in the NHL. Nick Bass

March 2022 – Pashin has continued his positive development, playing again this year in the VHL for Toros Neftekamsk where he has put up 17 goals and 13 assists for 30 points in 34 games. Pashin is an exciting one to watch as he is known for his flashy plays on the rush, and as his confidence grows, if he’s able to translate his game to North America, his stock will rise. Buy low if you can and stash him before it’s too late. Alex Wyatt

September 2021 – Pashin has been elevated to the VHL playing for Toros Neftekamsk. After a strong 2020-21 in the MHL, Pashin has seemed to adjust nicely to a higher caliber league. The creative forward has recorded two goals and four assists in his first seven games. With his offensive upside there’s little surprise that he’s contributing in a higher league, look for him to keep improving as the year goes along. Austin Broad

May 2021 – Pashin had a fantastic MHL season this year, leading Tolpar Ufa with 45 points (19 goals, 26 assists) in 41 regular season games. He continued his impressive play into the post-season, appearing in nine games and scoring 10 points. Pashin’s skill makes him a threat to produce at any level he plays at and I would expect to see him at the higher levels sooner rather than later given his skillset. Austin Broad

February 2021 – Pashin has been having a good season in the MHL, posting 18 goals and 24 assists in 38 games so far. His play has earned him some limited action in both the VHL and KHL for a second straight season.  As a smaller player, Pashin’s dynamic offense and high motor allow him to shine when he has the puck on his stick. Every time he touches the puck he has the potential to make something happen in the offensive zone. In his draft-eligible season, he only played one KHL game and two VHL games, whereas this season he has cracked the KHL lineup three times and VHL lineup seven times. Although he has yet to produce at the higher levels in Russia, he has improved on his MHL numbers and still has high potential given his ability to create offense every time he touches the puck. October 2020 – Pashin was selected 199th overall by the Carolina Hurricanes. His slide presumably came because of his size but he remains one of the biggest boom prospects in the class. Nice pick up late by the Hurricanes. Tony Ferrari

May 2020 – Pashin finished the 2019-20 MHL season with 39 points in 37 regular season games and earned a very limited amount of playtime in both the KHL and VHL. He is a small player, so his size is his most notable issue. He shies away from physical play on the ice because he simply cannot handle it yet. To combat his size problem, Pashin is a fantastic skater and can really move around the ice. His motor and agility allow him to skate through open play with ease, and his stickhandling helps him escape high-pressure situations often. Pashin strives when he gets a head of steam, as he can make defenders look silly with his pure speed and skill on the puck. Moving on from his skating, Pashin is an incredibly well-rounded player on offense. His creativity and skill allow him to make accurate passes to dangerous areas from all sorts of locations, and as a result, he found himself with 22 assists in the MHL this year. Pashin is a strong shooter of the puck as well. He works his way into dangerous areas to get shots off, which is why he was one of Tolpar Ufa’s most dangerous players this year. When he gets the puck near the net, he has the ability to use his quick release to get a shot on net or patiently wait for the defensemen to flock to him, then make a pass to an open teammate.

When the opposition is in control on the puck is where Pashin really gets exposed. He isn’t a defensive forward by any means, and it shows. Since he does shy away from physical play, he spends a lot of time floating around the defensive zone in hopes that his team can get the puck for him. He clearly doesn’t focus on his defensive positioning, such as sticking to his assignment or trying to break up plays, as much as he tries to be the main option for a breakout pass when his team gains possession. Another downside to Pashin is that there are times when he tries to do too much on his own. This is something a lot of highly skilled prospects face issues with, and Pashin is no exception. He often holds on to the puck for too long trying to decipher what play to make and panics. He also finds issues with skating into one-on-two and one-on-three situations that, due to his lack of size and strength, typically result in him losing possession. Pashin has all of the tools to be a great, creative winger at a higher level, but needs to work on being more consistent and making decisions faster with the puck on his stick.  Dylan Griffing
